The silver lining is that once Michigan beats USC by 3-4 TDs (if UCLA can hold them to 9, UM may shut them out!) and Ohio State does the same to Florida, it should make it clear EVEN to Urban Meyer who the top two teams are! ;D
This is my hope, as hard as it is for me to cheer the Buckeyes on for another National Championship.  The Rose Bowl is a nice consolation and beating USC will be fun to watch, however, this whole scenario that has taken place between Florida and Michigan just shows how inept of a system the BcS really is.  It's a shame for both Florida and Michigan that these two very deserving football teams don't get a chance to prove who the better team is and who really deserves  to play OSU for the National Championship by letting them play it out on the field.  Instead, we are left with the human element as always, and it's pretty clear that the human element wanted no part of seeing OSU-Michigan Part II.  As Mr. Ypsi said, I guess when OSU wipes out Florida and Michigan does the same with USC, it will clearly show the nation who the 2 best teams were and they were denied by the BcS because we couldn't have a rematch.  Isn't the BcS's job to match up the 2 best teams no matter what?  IMHO, they got it wrong this time!!!

One last thing. . .where were the Wheaton fans?  I think I saw 5 or maybe 10 Thunder fans total combined between the two games.

Wheaton draws good crowds at home, but their fan base never travels well -- not even during seasons that the Sonic Atmospheric Disturbance is a national power. The conventional wisdom in the CCIW is that the only roundball sport that'll induce the Wheaties to leave campus is the one in which the ball is kicked rather than dribbled.

They dribble the ball in that sport too, of course; they just do so with their feet.  I think the biggest difference is in the number of penalty shots taken.  :)

My favorite moment in a pretty depressing basketball weekend:

During the Carthage/Calvin game, a ball gets tipped into the Calvin bench right into the laps of the Calvin players, and it is pretty clear (at least to the Calvin team, who stand up and give some shouts) that Carthage touched it last.  The ref comes over and says (and I quote verbatim), "Alright, all of you sit down. I do not want to see any emotion from any of you from now on!".

Yeah I caught that to, I thought it was pretty poor officiating.  Carthage's emotion from their bench didn't seem to bother the CCIW ref to much.

That same ref was seen saying to his partner "This coach is really p***ing me off." in reference to KVS.    KVS was clearly not happy with the refs, but I think it was more a reaction to how poor his team played.

Since I'm not sure when the top 25 will be posted, will either Hope or Calvin be listed there this week?

hope1

it comes out tuesday  night i do not think they will be rated
i love hope  sports all of them are really great to watch

Mr. Ypsi

I'll guess that Hope will still be there (though in the high teens to twenties), but Calvin will probably disappear.

Calvin's 2 starting guards combined for 1 total assist all weekend.  The lack of movement of the ball, and player movment without the ball, is really poor at the moment.  Let's hope we start to see some positive steps toward improvement on Thursday.

For those who attended the CCIW/MIAA Challenge, how many fans attended the contests?  I was planning to attend the Friday and Saturday games, but when I found out how bad the weather was in Kenosha on Friday, I decided against it.

Was the weather as bad as they warned?

Sometimes the assists are low because when others get the ball they don't shoot it.  I think a few individuals need to get more aggressive on offense and play like seniors.

I prefer to think of soccer players as making "little kicks" and "big kicks". If Meadowlark Lemon and Curly Neal didn't do it, it's not dribbling.  ;)

There were a fair number of Hope & Calvin fans there, although it was less then expected (I know of a few who didn't make it because of the weather).  We made the trip in 3.5 hours.  In normal weather it's probably a 4.5 hour drive because of the Chicago traffic.  The media apparently scared all of the Chicago drivers sufficiently enough to keep them off the road.  It was awesome!!

It seems odd that Calvin received more points in the current Top 25 poll than Carthage did.

Hope drops to #22 in the latest D3Hoops.com poll.  They are the only team with a .500 record in the top 25.  Calvin drops out of the top 25 (would be #28).

I don't think that I can remember a time when the league was 12-22.  The only team above .500 is Tri-State?  What's going on in the MIAA?

According to the box scores
Calvin/Wheaton: 200   Hope/Carthage:500 on Friday
Hope/Wheaton: 200  Calvin/Carthage: 500 on Saturday
Both are obviously estimates but I think they are fairly accurate, plenty of good seats available.

I left Holland Saturday a little before 11am and walked into the gym 3 minutes before tipoff.  Would have made it easy but apparently removing snow from medians causes 45 minute backups on the Freeway in Chicago ;).  It was a beautiful clear sunny day from St.Joeph to Kenosha.

Very odd.   Carthage has played a tough schedule against 4 tournament teams from last spring.  Won 3 of them.  They would have been in my top 25, but not behind Wheton

Youth, I look at the rosters of MIAA teams and I see alot of names I don't recognize.  Alma, Adrian and Olivet's rosters look completely foreign to me.  Hope, Calvin and Albion all lost significant Sr. players.  I sure didn't see this bad of a start though.
