Let me add my 2 cents about today's game, if only to state that MIdoubleA, Admitedly Dutch, and Sac were right on the money.  Nice of you all to give a great description and spare me the time and effort!   ;D

I will add that it seemed like the dear ref's were out to find fault with Partridge no matter how hard they had to try or how far they had to stretch it (his last foul was the best laugher of the afternoon, but not the only one).  He bore it with as much grace and dignity as a person could.  Kudos, Tim for keeping your cool in a tough situation.

Why does it seem like it takes forever for basketball season to get here, and when it does it's already time to start counting down the days until it's done?  Sigh.  Ah, well, here's to all the great basketball moments to come in the next few weeks. :)

Ponderings from the DeVos:

*  10 players for Hope in the double-digits (Playing time that is!) with Ryan Klein and Tyler Wolfe leading the way.

*  Like others have already stated, the guys really played like a team. After reviewing the box stats, Hope had 20 assists.

*  2 New Stripes at the game. They weren't bad, called things tight, but it seemed to be consistent for both teams.

*  Jesse Reimink.  6/6 and 2/2.  Nice game Jesse!

*  Dutch 101 Class now being offered by our favorite poster, VanderSACsasma!  I loved the new phrases, and unfortunately, those may be MORE familiar for those attending the games then the "basic" cheer of "Let's Go Hope" that we often hear in English.

This was a nice win for the Bulldogs on a night where they didn't play their best basketball.  They didn't shoot the lights out, and no single player dominated the game, but Adrian managed to gut it out and get to 2-0 in the league.

Adrian got off to a quick start, taking a 16-1 lead before Kzoo got its act together a bit.  Kzoo succeeded in slowing the pace of the game, and made a couple of timely threes to bring the deficit to 41-36 at the half.

In the second half, the Bulldogs essentially opened a big enough lead to keep Kzoo at arm's length, and kept them there for the rest of the game.  It seemed as though Adrian was ahead by 15 points for the better part of the second half.

Game ball for this poster goes to Andy Kubish.  He did it all tonight, a really well-rounded game.  He made a couple of threes at key times, attacked the basket, worked the post, worked his butt off on the defensive end, and made his free throws.  Really a nice game from a guy who has worked hard all season.

So now it's on to the biggest test of the conference season so far for Adrian.  They'll need an excellent performance to beat Calvin, but I think it's possible.  At any rate, we'll find out where this Bulldog team stands on Wednesday.  See y'all then, Knight fans!

One more thought:

AdmittedlyDutch - I too noticed the conversation between Olivet's coach and GVW at the conclusion of the game.  It seemed to be serious. Intense. Long.  And afterward, the Olivet coach left the floor immediately without saying a word to anyone, and no "hand-shaking" with any players. Sure would have loved to have been a little mouse to know what was said.  Maybe he was asking for directions to the Eighth Street Grille and wondered what Glenn thought the other two soups were besides Chicken Corn Chowder.

And... maybe my closet "WMU Bronco" fan side is taking it a bit hard after today's bowl game, but can Brian Kelly's head get any BIGGER??????????????  But I digress...

I also saw our Dear old coach argue with that guy dressed in all Black. Seriously, the guy started the conversation with, "I need to talk to you about something." That's all I heard.  Glen did wag his finger a little bit and his face turned red. The people at the table heard the conversation for sure.

Also, I was sitting in the crowd and had the pleasure to watch Vansolkema's dad watch the game. It was great in the second half.  He started shaking his head and spouting off about the subs being in the game for too long. He kept shaking his head at Glen and saying, "4 minutes." Then he would say, "Time to get them out coach." However, his best line was, "I don't know why I even stay for the second half of these games."  Did he know Hope was up by 25?

I got a reason. The team is bigger one than one person.

Welcome Green Hornet:   You make an interesting point about some parents!  :)

I wonder if the point would be as interesting if the kid played for another school. ::)

We've reached an all-time low if we're going to start criticizing parents on here.

Green Hornet

Good point SAC.

Just figuring that some people don't watch for the beauty of the game.  That doesn't include beating people when they are down. Also, the parent deserves it when they sit in the wrong section and talk loud enough so everyone can here.  :P

Now for my main point. How good is Tim Partridge? I love the way he runs the point. Confidence, no back talk; just hard core basketball.

I agree that Olivet will be very tough next year. They are big and young and played hard.

Just like everything you Michiganders do, we Ohioans did it before you.  ;)  We not only spent a good portion of last season in the NCAC room criticizing a player's parent, we did it to his cyber-face.  He registered as a poster and proceeded to ravage his son's head coach for most of the season.  It was all pretty fascinating.

I recently ran into a parent of a freshman player on that team, and in the course of an otherwise inocuous conversation between strangers, he offered that part of the problem with the team this year was that Certain Player's parent was such a loud-mouthed jackass.  I almost fell over laughing.  :D

Green Hornet

My point exactly. The kids in college. Let him fight his own battle.

Now, if he wants to complain about over schemes or play calling I understand. However, he was not, he was complaining that his son was not in the game during a blowout.  Crazy. Also, Hope is deep. Very deep. I love watching the 2nd or 3rd string play.

I wish people would leave these coaches alone.

Hmmm....thought it was a discussion board. Not a,"Let's leave the coach's alone board."

Green Hornet,

No, no, no .... I liked your post, keep 'em coming.  I meant I wish parents would not think that way.  I'm sorry for not being clear.

From what I hear, KVS and GVW get heat from alumni and parents year-after-year.

I'll drop you my 1st karma.
