I agree. The parents should discuss the coaching tactics.

I love your idea's Crow. Why do you think Glen gets so match crap.

I can't wait for the Calvin/Hope game on Satruday.

Man, I really want to know what the Olivet coach was steamed all up about after the game.

I know this is pretty random, but I learned how crazy the Olivet coach was last year, after sitting near the Olivet bench last season at the first round game of the MIAA tourney.  The last 10 minutes of the game he spent screaming at the refs, and when his assistent tried to restrain him, he shoved him out of the way.  Once he got kicked out, he watched the game through the door that goes to the locker-room.

Because many people are stupid.  They think they know better than the coach just because their child is a great athlete with some skills.

I can see fans discussing the team and the like, but I think these coaches have earned the benefit of the doubt.

That's because He got Geerlingsed that game.

I wonder if the point would be as interesting if the kid played for another school. ::)

We've reached an all-time low if we're going to start criticizing parents on here.

I think we have been lower.   8)

I think the reason why it gets brought up about Hope (vs. some other team) is the same reason we have had the discussion about the mid-season transfers last year (sorry).  It threatens to upset the emotional balance and make a very deep, talented team underperform.

Also, when there are not many shortcomings to point out about your rival, you have to look in other areas.   :'(

Who hasn't? You still got to keep your cool. (WWKVS or GVWD?).  I can't behave like that and keep my job.

Actually, wouldn't it be great if we could go nuts at our jobs like the coaches.

"Hey, you didn't tip me enough for that Gregordog. Get your tail end out of my store!!!" Then proceed to chase him all the way to the peanut store.

hmm... I love the peanut store! Those different color sour balls.

I would like to see Partridge go nuts one day on the hoop!  Go up with a windmill, like the great dominque wilkens, and just destory the rim.

Just a guess, but I'm assuming your job title does not  include "basketball coach."

Also, I was sitting in the crowd and had the pleasure to watch Vansolkema's dad watch the game. It was great in the second half.  He started shaking his head and spouting off about the subs being in the game for too long. He kept shaking his head at Glen and saying, "4 minutes." Then he would say, "Time to get them out coach." However, his best line was, "I don't know why I even stay for the second half of these games."  Did he know Hope was up by 25?

Like father like son?

Actually this guy seems like pretty reasonable compared to some D-I Arkansas football parents who met with the AD to discuss how their kids were being used in the offense.

Green Hornet

Actually, yeah it does.

However, it's for a much lower lever.

I deal with crappy parents like that all the time.  :o That's why it's a sore point for me.

Let's gets back to the point ... I don't care what level you coach at you don't have to act like a butt head who can become a crazy man at one missed judgement call. For example, Bob Knight. I don't respect him. Don't tell me about grad rates. He throws chairs on the court. Is that what we teach kids???? The MIAA coaches should be examples for kids who come to games and those who play. They shouldn 't rant and rave like they are little Napoleans.

I have to agree with the Green Hornet on all accounts.  Coaches and parents need to set an example for young people, period.

We've reached an all-time low if we're going to start criticizing parents on here.

Just like everything you Michiganders do, we Ohioans did it before you.  ;)  We not only spent a good portion of last season in the NCAC room criticizing a player's parent, we did it to his cyber-face.  He registered as a poster and proceeded to ravage his son's head coach for most of the season.  It was all pretty fascinating.

I recently ran into a parent of a freshman player on that team, and in the course of an otherwise inocuous conversation between strangers, he offered that part of the problem with the team this year was that Certain Player's parent was such a loud-mouthed jackass.  I almost fell over laughing.  :D

Hey, some Hoosier kept running stats out there at him, too! Especially when he was criticizing the coach for playing time and rotations when they were getting waxed by Wooster, Witt and a D-1 school.

Glaser and Woolpert can be in their cabinet. They can throw down too :)

I can't believe no one at the Olivet game pointed out the high point of comedy in the first half. I have never seen it before, but someone for Olivet got himself so lost in the paint that he picked up his dribble, spun to face up for his shot, and promptly plunked the ball off the basket support arm as he was a good 2 feet behind the backboard.

That was the only thing funnier than the final seconds and the attempt to hit the century mark. As soon as Holt got fouled, I guessed the outcome would be precisely what we ended up getting, he's only got 1 of those 2 and got the requisite razzing from the starters now watching from the bench. I sat near the bench for the first game in the NCAAs last spring and I got the impression Holt is the one bench-warmer the regulars most like to cheer-on/heckle as he mops up the blowout games.

I was surprised to see Hope look as good as they did Saturday given their losses (this was the first game I finally made it to this year) so I suppose it's not surprising people are saying this was one of their better efforts so far. Playing Olivet was certainly part of it as well. One player I would have thought would be a definite contributer within the second 5 that was further down the bench was Woolpert. He seemed to be coming along nicely as a player last year, but he's still a ways down the bench. Is it just a matter of some of the other guys in the first 10 improving even more so?

I'm curious if #3 for Olivet will end up near the top of the conference in scoring this year. He seems to be in that kind of situation where he needs to try to carry a struggling team by shooting until his arm falls off, so he could end up leading some individual stats for scoring and 3's I would think.

Andersdy----Woolpert just joined the team 2 weeks ago after a semester off-campus (Philadelphia?), so he's just getting back into basketball.

Cramer will also be holding the roll of "Secretary of Defense"

Van Solkema, Vander Heide, Partridge, Wolfe, Osburn and Dykgraaf will all head the "Department of Immigration"

Long range planning will be conducted by Tyler Wolfe.

Brett Jager will handle "Department of Veteran Affairs" with a special emphasis on patience, Ryan Klein will assist.

"Department of Energy" will be held by Bria Ebels, this is a permanent appointment.

Department of Interior has been left vacant ;D
