Latest Hope transfer:

http://www.bankhoops.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4236

A red shirt freshman last year at Tech. Injury plagued Senior year of high school, but looks like his Junior year he did some nice things w/ his team.

Anybody know anything about Josh Jorkasky, the latest transfer to Hope?  Is he practicing with the JV team or playing with them?  Wonder if he will play later.  Also, how many years of eligibility does he have let?  Did he play for Michigan Tech the first semester, and if so, how did he do?

Thanks!

Josh Jakorsky doesn't appear in the Huskies season box score but a quick scan of boxscores shows he played in 2 games for a total of 5 minutes.  He is in the team photo, first row #14

I highly, highly doubt he'll play for Hope this season.  I would assume since he's played 1 semester he'd be considered a Freshman this year.

I remember his name crossing my computer, the fact that he injured a knee and still ended up at a DII school is encouraging.  Although I have no idea when he accepted that scholarship.  As posted he missed most of his Sr. year in HS but put up some pretty impressive numbers as a Jr.

I can't imagine what its like to hop on a bus and drive a minimum of 12 hours to play your other GLIAC foes every other week except for Northern Michigan and Lake Superior State.  Looking at their schedule they must be gone for 3 or 4 days at a time.  Next week they play Wayne State on a Thurs, and Hillsdale on Sat.   Five days latter its back on the bus to Northwood on Thurs, Saginaw Valley on Sat.  Thats rough.

I am pretty sure he was sitting behind the bench at last night's game in shirt and tie.

Anyone know JJ's high school stats?

Hope 67

Its worth mentioning that last night's 36 point win by Hope over Albion was Hope's biggest margin over Albion since a 110-68 (42 pts) win in 1960.

Also the 36 points is the biggest margin between the two schools since Albion won 112-78 (34 pts) in 1979.......very early in the careers of Mike Turner and Glen Van Wieren.  ............and its worth pointing out I didn't find very many 20 points margins let alone 30.  Wow.

Saturday of course marks the 163rd renewel of our fabled Hope/Calvin rivalry.

The stats
Series tied at 81-81
Hope leads by 44 points.........10,884 to 10840
Hope has won 3 in a row and 9 of the last 13.

Saturday could bring a serious historical change in the rivalry, a Hope win would give Hope its first lead in the all-time series since 1989.  Its been tied many times over those 18 years but Calvin has always had the lead.

Forgot to add you can access the new rivalry web site by going to

Not surprising, bulldogalum, since Calvin's defense has been MIA much of the first halves of the first half of the season. ;D

I think the Knights are hurting from a lack of a veteran scorer.  You could give the ball to Trewhella or Draayer at any point of a game and expect them to score the ball.  Caleb really benefited from those two being on the floor.  The inexperience of the (still) young Calvin team was evident with many turnovers late in the game.

You got it right.  I think going into this season, Calvin fans didn't quite realize how great of a loss those two were.  Trewella was a consistant clutch jump shooter, and Draayer could drain a 3 anywhere within 5 feet outside the perimeter with no fear.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but when you go to hopecalvin.com, it still says hope vs calvin in the message bar at the very top of the screen... funny stuff... almost as funny as the fact that they felt the need to make two identical webpages :D :D :D

I heard from the Calvin person I RSVPed to that there are usually 80+ people at the place I am going on Saturday... I wonder how many people watch this game on TV around the country if you add up the actual arena and all the satellite locations. It must be an insane number!

Anyone realize that if Adrian wins and Hope loses this weekend, that Adrian will sit atop the MIAA.. alone... for reasons other than alphabetical supremacy?

Crazy.

Can that be right? The series is tied yet Hope leads by 44 points? Sounds to me like the Dutch have been shamelessly pouring it on. ;)
