One last (I think!) comment about last Saturday's game.

Did you know that Nascar has a new event this year?  It happened in West Michigan this past Saturday. It's called the "M-6/I96 Gateway Race".  And though I only know a few posters from this board in person, I am aware of the winner!  Speeding along at a blinding speed, in a white/off-white colored vehicle (it was too fast to get either the true color or the make of the car) was non other than... (drum roll please).... (I bet you think I'm going to say SAC, but you're wrong!!!) It was Civic Minded.  HOLY FASTNESS Batman!  Well, Congratulations to CM for winning the M-6/I96 Gateway.  You're prize will be the same one that is given out by FDF for being the top game picker each week (Yep, that's right - nada!)  All I can say is SAC - you have some competition.  Let's see.... Holland to Adrian... I'm guessing by that speed that you can do it in less than 2 hours!!

Do I a get reward for sitting in the passenger seat - white knuckled all the way to Holland?   ;D

I think it's possible, not that I would know ;).

I took Burton ;D

Well lets both leave for Adrian at the same time tommorrow, I bet I get there first and I'll even stop off for a pregame meal in Brooklyn.  Yep I garuntee it

(Sac is starting off with a 97 mile head start...............shhhhhh, don't tell her.)

Adrian to Holland is an easy 3 hours..........if you take a wrong turn in Manchester and see such facinating places such as Grass Lake etc.

Not that I'd know  ;)

I listened to Bret Bakita's "On the Bench" show last Thursday.  He interviewed GVW about the upcoming game.  It was interesting at the end of the interview when Bakita asked GVW about getting the Warren Reynolds Lifetime Achievement Award. GVW described Reynolds as being a "great friend and mentor to him."  It's not very often that a coach and media person have that kind of relationship.

Since my good name has been besmirched, I must leap to my own defense!  I know for a fact that I was only going 75 -- when I realized I was passing gohope (occaissionally know for being a leadfoot as well) I checked the speedometer, fearing I was doing 90.   ;)  Since it was only 75 (the acceptable 5 mph over), I continued on,  winning handily.  It was a day for winning in GR! ;D

As to Sac's sneaky head start, it wouldn't matter.  There's no beating that man when it comes to driving -- ask any officer! ;)

And FDF...well, I'm crushed! :'(

Is it Wednesday yet?!?!?  I need some basketball! ;D

Hopefully, not when you are the passenger. Depends, I suppose, on how crazy the driver is.

I gotta say, I'm tempted to make the drive to Adrian. I fear this will be a tough game for the Dutchmen: on the road, first place on the lane, possible letdown after the Calvin game, a pumped up Adrian team. It's also hard to see Hope getting through the conference undefeated, and since they made it out of Knollcrest unblemished, this would seem like the logical place for them to lose. Ought to be a good one.
One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...

If Hope wins Wednesday then they win the league and go undefeated.  I know sounds fairly bold. but lets face it no one else seems really tough this year.  Albion, Kzoo and Olivet aren't exactly scary.  Their biggest road game after that may be Tri-State.  But that is only a prediction, I have been wrong before.

Flash:  You are probably pretty much on with your post.  I just don't see Hope having a letdown after Sat.  GVW will have his boys ready.  If the "Dutch" are going to shoot themselves in the foot it will more likely happen at the De Vos when they get relaxed and take somebody for granted.  All it would take is for Adrian, 3state, Calvin or someone else to get hot, and catch Hope flatfooted.   :)  Hope this year reminds one alot of Calvin in 00.  They surely have the talent, they played hungry last Sat., and the chemistry just seems to be there.

Alright all....the night before the big game...wonder what Adrian team will show up?  What Hope team?  Time will tell and 24 hours from now, we'll know!

Should be a good night at the MSFC, hopefully a good turnout by the student body.  From what I hear from bulldogalum, that several student-athlete's traveled to Olivet on Saturday.  Wednesday night game, Hope coming to town, I might stop by the SAE house and have dinner and some soda's.

The key to the game is if Adrian can get the inside-outside game going.  When they get it rolling, as I saw against Calvin they are very dangerous.  These Bulldogs can shoot and might even rank up with the best shooting Adrian teams.  Buck let's those long balls fly this year!

See you all at the game!

Til the next episode.

This is as excited as I've been for a game in two years, I really expect an inspired performance from Adrian tomorrow night.

Roughrider

This Hope-Adrian affair has championship-game atmosphere written all over it, and it's only mid-January.  Wow!  If you can't get fired up for this one, you'd better check your batteries.  I'm really looking forward to the views from posters who make it there, about who makes a difference, and how the match-ups go.

Safe travels to all.  Go easy on the ice, and watch out for Michigan's finest.   ;)

I am not ready to call the Hope-Adrian game the championship game quite yet.  The Bulldogs needed OT to get past Albion, won a close one against Calvin (at home), and they havn't played Hope yet.  I think that if AC stays focused they can finish in the top 2 but it is still very possible that they could still drop a few (4-5) games.

bulldogalum

I think Roughrider was suggesting a championship-like atmosphere, and I think there will be that tomorrow.  Whether either team has what it takes to hang in there for a championship run is to be determined, and any such suggestion would be premature, but I certainly expect a big game atmosphere tomorrow at the Merillat Center.
