Hopeconvert:  Much of what you say may possibly be true.  However, if one looks at the stats from last Sat's game, and compares them to previous Hope games, maybe, just maybe last Sat. was Hope's off night.  Yes, Hope can be beaten by several MIAA teams, but it will take a team on a hot night, and Hope not playing even an average game for them. :)

I was just sent a pretty much hilarious picture of me smack in the middle of something like 70-80 people who were at the San Diego satellite party I went to this weekend. I hear that such pictures often get stuck in the Calvin alumni magazine, so if someone who knows me happens to see me, let me know!  ;)

I thought it was pretty neat that we had free towels and pom-poms and buttons at all the tables from both schools... between that and "The Rivalry" cups and the snazzy glossy programs we got, how much do you think the schools spend on supplies for satellite parties? I mean, wow! :o

I happened to end up at a Calvin table full of semi-recent graduates, and the comments about the Hope fans who were getting a little rowdy and liquored up were pretty funny. I'm super jealous that you guys have a rivalry like this... we have nothing even close in the CCIW. Even just watching the fans in the stands made me wish that Wheaton could get a group of fans 1/4 that size and loudness for an away game. I hope you appreciate just how special what you have is. Gosh was it cool to watch a DIII game in a sports bar! Usually I go with people and couldn't be more bored about what they're showing! :D

As it turned out, we ended up w/ 47 people in Portland!!! More than twice what we had last year. One of the Calvin alum (sitting at my table ) was on the board of directors for the college... So I abstained from the devil's brew, and had a nice conversation instead. I really wanted a beer, but w/ game time 11:00am I thought better of it... My wife and I were "hosting" don't ya know.

Over the last several years the amount of favors has increased... I wondered as well how much they spent.

April,
Glad you had fun!

Doesn't sound like much of a letdown for Hope... All though it surprises me a bit on how well this is going.
I just logged on, what is the difference?

Got to think though, that if Calvin keeps it close, Olivet will run out of steam. Your boys are just too deep for Olivet.
