It makes sense that Calvin and Hope would have a larger following on boards like this.  One look at the attendance numbers year after year will tell you that Calvin and Hope have by far the biggest following in the MIAA.  It is nice, however, to hear some chatter from other sources, such as Albion or Adrian fans, to get a new perspective.

Who could forget D23?  And I sure do miss those Albion guys - like "he who shall not be named".  In their day they also consumed a fair portion of the posts here.

Not that they had a board presence like Hope and Calvin enjoy, but they sure do seem pretty fair weather to have basically completely disappeared in the midst of one off year.  I would really like if there were more representation from Alma and Tri State.  The conversation is only improved with more perspectives.

A word of warning to all you Holland residents:

I just heard that the Holland police have lowered the tolerance on their radar guns.  It seems that a major source of revenue (from moving violations) has left the area, and they need to find some replacement revenue.

FDF:  Very good.  "he who shall not be named", and remember  "the game that shall not be mentioned".   :)
These postings were starting to sound like a wake or eulogy for poor Sac.   ;D
BasketballMom:  Glad to hear that your experiences around the MIAA have been so favorable.  Most of us know, and appreciate the sacrifice many parents are making to send their kids to one of the MIAA schools.   :) Sorry you got dinged twice for your post.
As a fan I recall meetng only one parent who wasn't a decent person.  (I later learned the guy was a jerk in h.s. 30 years earlier).

Wicked snow between Lansing and Grand Rapids tonight..........I could have used a dog sleed team for navigation.  30-40 mph most of the way a 1hr 45 min trip took 2hr 45.  I'm not doing that again tonight so your stuck with me...........and possibly tommorrow at DeVos. ;D

If Hope's only loss for the rest of the season is in the conference tournament, I would be shocked if they didn't get in.  While it's true that the MIAA is down this year, Hope has a reputation as a strong basketball program, and that can only help them.

It won't. Reputation is not one of the five primary criteria used by the selection committee in choosing Pool C bids.

The two primary criteria out of the five that most D3 observers think are the ones most carefully looked at by the committee are: Regional winning percentage and QOWI. As a rule of thumb, if your regional winning percentage is .750 or better and your QOWI is over 10, you're in good shape for a Pool C bid. Hope's regional winning percentage is currently .857 (six wins, one loss), so the Dutch are in good shape in that regard. The problem is that the Dutch play so few regional games (they'll play 19 at most, including the MIAA tourney if they play in all three rounds) that their regional winning percentage drops much more with every loss than does everyone else's around the country, since most teams that play 27 or 28 games prior to the NCAA tourney will typically have anywhere from 22-25 regional games.

As for QOWI, it's already been noted that the dismal performance by the MIAA in non-conference play is going to hurt anyone trying to come out of this league with a Pool C bid.

Quote from: Flying Dutch Fan on January 19, 2007, 01:46:44 PMLook at Adrian - last year not much was said about them.  This year, we have had quite a bit of posting about them.  Same can be said for Tri-State, despite the fact that there is not a single Tri-State supporter on this board (at least no one that we know about).

My sister and brother-in-law have a summer cottage in Indiana's Steuben County lake district just outside of Angola. If they ever winterize it, I would be more than happy to go to Thunder games and be the Mr. TSU Guy for this room. ;)

I don't think any of us particularly set off to become the spokesperson of our schools. I do know however, that it's unavoidable, especially when you post a lot or are a HOFer.

I got an email the other day from an infrequent poster who asked me if I was from Wittenberg.  And I believe he was serious. :D

That's absolutely ridiculous, David. Everyone who follows Posting Up knows full well that you're from Kenyon. ;)

Come back soon, Sac!

Sounds like the night Jared and I were driving back from the last Rivalry game at the Civic. Didn't think we were going to make it.

Sac:  Over the years you have done a great job posting, and represented your school well.  Each of us has our own biases, and whom among us isn't proud of the college we attended or support today?

that would be HOPECONVERT, eh?

It's really only a problem when I find a whole Dew Crew in there. The voices in my head get rather loud then.

At least you didn't recommend a reconversion, or an anti-brainstorming intervention. If you had, you might be able to keep me from random acts of comfort and affliction.
