28-6, 11:02 to play.

Griffin already with 10. Should be 12, but missed a breakaway dunk.

I saw that Engelsma had another big game for the JV. 17 and 17.

Wolfe with 8 already off the bunch. Like I said, he's streaky, so you don't worry too much about off games.

Schuster with 19 points and 9 boards. Calvin's JV bigs coming up big.

50-22 at the half, Calvin.

Griffin leading the Knights with 19, while Mantel with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Mantel, though, shooting 2-9 from the field.

Isaac Smith with 7 for Alma.

Nice to see the third-ranked Lady Knights get the win.

bulldogalum

30-26 Kzoo leads at half.

Sounds like the Hornets are really slowing things down and getting Adrian out of rhythm.

The way this game is going for the Knights is much needed.  It's been a while since they were able to let loose and blow someone out.  I hope this is a turning point in the season and not just a one game result of playing Alma.

Tyler Wolfe blazing the way for Hope with 17 at the half. Hope leading Olivet 43-28

Tyler Wolfe and Derek Griffin must have had the same thing for dinner.

I'm watching John Carroll play Mount Union on Sports Time Ohio right now.  DIII basketball on TV is a beautiful thing.

Reimink and Richardson combined 8 fouls, 0 points, and 2 rebounds against a very mediocre Calvin frontcourt.  I don't think a quality big man would have much trouble against those two.

Ok, I know you havent seen many HOPE games but as I said before....Calvin didnt play in the post!!!  They ran ball and slip screens out on the perimeter...all Reiminks fouls and 2 of Richardsons fouls came on either perimeter play by hedging out too hard or helping on dribble penetration by Calvins guards.  I am just saying in the post defense ALWAYS favors the physically stronger defender.

I also think that Mantel is a quality big man but most of his points came on jumpers or pick and rolls, not post moves!

Basketball today (especially the way the post is officiated) does NOT favor the "back to the basket" big man....that is in Hopes favor.

So, if a team gameplans well against Hope it doesn't count against their ability to defend.  But if you play the way that Hope defends well, they are really good defenders.  Got it.

I don't think he was trying to indicate the dominance of Hope's defense and explain away any counter examples. I think by pointing out the way in which Calvin had their success against Hope, he wasn't saying that there is no way to get anything against Hope's D, but he was showing that the Calvin game didn't exactly show anything about whether Richardson and Reimink would struggle with a traditional big man's post game since Calvin exploited them in ways other than power post play.

I believe the discussion was started not asking if Hope's interior defense can be beat, but wondering if facing a traditional power post player could be Hope's specific weakness this year.

Thank you anders for supporting me vs. the Calvin nut.  I guess we can say no negatives about the elect.  I was not pointing out any weakness or strengths, just saying I didnt think Calvin beat on Hope with post play!  By the way, I think KVS is an outstanding halftime adjustment coach, don't know what they do in practice all week though :)

A couple years ago Brad Sall suggested they run some crazy stuff in practice to confuse anyone that might be watching.  I don't think coach went along with it though.

Saturday I thought Koetsier, Chappel, and McCray all played solid minutes for Calvin, but Koetsier just got in the game. I thought maybe we'd see them into the game a little sooner.

73-30, 13:14 to play. Mantel at the line shooting one, after getting fouled on a two-handed slam.

Alma's coach not present tonight, undergoing heart tests this week. Not supposed to be there on Saturday either. Thoughts and prayers with him.

I'm glad to see Tim Katt get some playing time.  I think he could come up big for the Knights next year when bear, snoop, and meckes are all gone.
