Things are looking less than ideal for the bulldogs.  Down 9 with 3 to go.

FINAL

105-49.

The century mark. Wow, that feels good.

Griffin 26, Veltema 17, and Mantel 13 for the Knights.

Smith finished with 15 for Alma.

Calvin scored 50 points in the first half, Alma 49 in the game.

Is there any way those points can be transferred to last Saturday's game, or the Hope game, or maybe even the Adrian game??  ;)

From the sounds of it, K played its best game of the season (this according to the radio guys).  They shot over 50% from the floor in the second half, and it felt like they made absolutely everything.  They were something like 24 of 28 from the free throw line, whereas Adrian was 2 of 3.  Kzoo only turned it over 8 times.  Great win for the Hornets, tough loss for the Bulldogs.  Go Brits!

I think we were all waiting to see if they could put it all together once. The talent is certainly there. It'll be interesting to see if this is a turning point.

Tough loss for Adrian.
One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...

Did anyone hear postgame comments from KVS?  I was not able to listen to the game because I can't load up real player.

KVS mentioned that he was pleased that the team started both halves with energy.  He was also happy with the play of Mantel and Veltema. He also (re)iterated the fact that they are commited to getting those two quality minutes and thinks they will develop very nicely.  D-Fresh said that this game was more fun than last saturday at TSU and KVS agreed.

I thought Griffin had 28. We'll have to wait for box score. He hit 7 of 9 three pointers. Coming into the game he was 15th in the nation in 3-point percentage, at 46.5%, but this raises him to 49.1%, which should be good for about #5 in the nation. I think when Griffin left the game for the last time, part way through the second half, he personally was outscoring Alma 28-26.

The knights made a point of getting it inside to the big guys, and that really helps the offense all around. Mantel missed a few mainly because he gets banged around and he doesn't have the muscle and the bulk to fight back. A summer in the weight room should help, though.

KVS was very happy with the way the knights played, especially that they kept up the intensity for the whole game.

Live scoreboard shows that Griffin was 9-12 overall, 7-9 from 3, 1-2 on FT, for 26 pts

I'm glad to see Veltema play well tonight.  I felt bad for him last saturday as foul trouble kept him from establishing any sort of comfort on the court.
