If the crowd "gets excited when the home team approaches the century mark," then I would submit much of the crowd is stupid and could use a remedial lesson in basketball.

You have got to be kidding me.  That's the most insane thing I have ever read on this site.  I would submit that every crowd at every high school or college basketball game will cheer for their team to get to 100.  Scoring 100 is not about rubbing the other teams face in it - it's about reaching an often unacheivable goal.  Maybe it goes back to the days when scoreboards didn't have that 3rd digit, but it's just human nature.  There's nothing stupid about it - it's about supporting your team, and more importantly, it's about the last guys off the bench having the crowd excited and cheering for them.  You won't see the same thing happen in a 105-104 game.

And... if that's the way you feel, may I suggest that you go root for your alma mater?   :P

The crowd went wild when Hopeconvert reached 99 posts earlier today.  They went home happy and satisfied when he hit the baseline jumper for 101 with just hours remaining on the clock.   ;D ;) :P

THE most insane?!? Wow. Cool - so I got that going for me.

So, let me get this straight, if I am satisfied with a 99-50 win, as opposed to a 100-50 win, I am guilty of not supporting my team? 100 is only one point more achievable than 99. A stupid free throw. That's not human nature. That's ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure it's not in Hope's mission statement that they will only accept fans who root for triple digits in blowouts. I haven't checked Calvin's lately.

Good thing sac is around. That was a good post.

I see a blizzard warning has been issued until 10 PM.  Does anyone know the rules on game postponement?

If a basketball game is cancelled, MIAA rules say you must make it up on the next available day.  That would be Sunday, but Hope and Calvin have a policy against playing on Sunday.  Thus, the games would be Monday night if they were to be cancelled.

The east side of the state looks better, I suspect the Hope game will go on as scheduled.

For what it is worth, other Hope sports have varied on cancelling today.  Non-league tennis has cancelled, track left early today for Wisconsin and appear to be on as scheduled.  Perhaps Sac can give a report on weather conditions further east cuz it is brutal in Holland!

It is bright and sunny in Ann Arbor, but very cold.

Sac's in Ohio, where the weather is beautiful.

It's not snowing here in south central Michigan. In fact, the sun is trying to sneak  through.   They expect an inch or two here at most.

I have an pretty solid source inside the athletic dept at Albion, I'll post if I hear anything about the games at Kresge today.

There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

FDF:  "You won't see the same thing happen in a 105-104 game."  Very true.  :)  If the fans don't have the anticipation of their team hitting 100 (in a blow out situation) they stampede for the doors.  Few things are more boring than watching a 101 or 99 to 57 game.   Most people go to basketball games to be "entertained", and to have fun.  Students of the game of basketball are a small minority.

Grand Rapids is getting hit hard right now.  I shoveled about 5 inches of snow this morning at about 8 and I would guess there is another 2-3 inches on the ground already.
