All the Grand Rapids area school already canceled for Monday.  The weather seems a bit better, very cold still, so they should play.

Only an inch expected outside the lake effect areas today.

The only problem is that it's so blasted cold, the roads are goin gto remain ice/snow packed.  I just drove into work, and it wasn't pretty.  Holland to GR in only an hour and 20 minutes - and that was with almost no traffic.

Who the heck goes out in that crap and doesn't turn their lights on???

Lights didn't make any difference when the 40-mph wind gusts blew all that fluffy lake-effect snow around -- there were moments when I couldn't see more than a couple of feet.

There were numerous accidents and a few multi-car pileups. One of the hwy 131 closures was due to a 70-car pileup. Fortunately there were no serious injuries because everyone was driving so slowly.

If you did get into an accident or go off the road, I hope you had a hat and mittens along to keep you warm in the -20 wind chill temperatures.

Can you imagine a college authorizing a bus full of students to travel to a game on a day like that?

Hope let the track team travel Saturday morning.  Then, after the ADs woke up and realized how crappy it was out, they didn't let the track team come home until Sunday (the roads were no better Saturday evening as compared to the morning).

Four teams this week have tougher than usual schedules, but By the looks of it, Adrian's is the toughest.  Consider:

Adrian travels to Calvin tonight, to determine who remains in a tie for 2nd with 3State.  Wednesday, they host Olivet, who took them to OT in their first meeting.  Finish the week with a trip to Holland to face Hope.  That's a tough row to hoe.

The other three have their work cut out for them, for sure.  But Hope and Calvin each host 2 opponents, and Albion travels to the #7 and #8 teams in the league.

Good luck to the Bulldogs; keep it interesting.  Just take care of business before you get to Holland!   ;)

To everyone traveling tonight, may God grant you travelling mercies and bring you home safely.

Go Hope!!

Any Hope fans driving out to Albion tonight, or have knowledge of the state of the roads? I'm tempted to go, but don't want to horse around with dangerous conditions.

I am sad to say that I can not make it to Albion tonight and I doubt any other dew crew members will be there.  :'( A long drive with bad road conditions and mass amounts of homework, I dont think the trip is going to be possible. So I guess the radio will have to do tonight!

I think this is the slowest few days this board has gone through in the middle of a season. Can't wait for the games tonight.

According to www.michigan.gov/roadconditions every Interstate and US Highway in West Michigan is "Icy, Snow Covered, Overpasses Icy, Drifting Snow, Lanes Reduced, Blowing Snow".  I can't imagine M-40 or M-89 are any better.  :(

I also just heard from a friend that B-93 has been reporting I-94 closed in Paw Paw and between Portage and Sprinkle Roads.

If you decide to go, plan on lots of extra time...and cheer extra loud!!

For those not fortunate enough to have tickets to Wednesday's game, WGVU will be broadcasting, and the first 30 people to connect to WGVU's website (www.wgvu.org) will be able to watch it over the internet via windows media player.

Looks like a radio night tonight.

If the roads get a bit more favorable, I'll probably go. In any case, I hope y'all have a safe trip.

This will have the livescoreboard for the varsity.

It was fine from the Ohio border to east of Ann Arbor, started blowing and snowing halfway to Jackson, still dry roads though with good visibility, highway was at speed.   Stayed that way to M-99 which is the North/South round through Albion, drifting in spots, a little snow falling, still comfortable going the limit in areas without drifts.  I imagine it only gets worse the further west you go, probably a nice idea to snuggle up next to your radio or computer and "watch" the game.

Quick shower and I'll venture back out into the arctic and head to Albion.
