the regional rankings came out hope is 4 th behind lake erie and wooster and witt  i think hope schould be number 2 they have a better recod then witt and wooster

Hope's overall record is only one game better than Witt and Wooster but that's not what the regional rankings look at. Only in region games matter for these rankings and Hope's record is not as good as Wooster's (13-2 to 10-2). And its win percentage is only marginally better than Witt's. The reason Hope is behind both Witt and Woo though is that they have much higher Strength of Schedule features because they play each other and the MIAA is way way down this year.

I thought I remember seeing the other day someone posting something about logging in to the WGVU website and possibly being able to watch? the game... Was I just imagining that, or fantasizing it??? I can't seem to find that now...

HELP! I'd really like to watch this one.

www.wgvu.org will allow the first 30 connecters to watch the game via windows media player. This according to "The Rivalry" website.

I schould like to disagree about who has the better recod.

Wooster 13-2, .867
Hope 10-2, .833

DC, Pat, Anyone with broader knowledge than me,

What is the story with Lake Erie? Who are they? Favorite Colors? Or just are they legit?

My question is why is Hope listed as 10-2 in region?  According to everything I've read, the Carthage game was not in-region, so Hope should be 10-1, .909

While 13-2 is certainly better than 10-2, it is not better than 10-1!  Hope's record is listed incorrectly, since the loss to Carthage is NOT a regional game by any of the criteria.

Lake Erie is undefeated against D3 competition, the only team besides Amherst that can make that claim.  They won at Rochester by 11 very early this season, and they beat Bethany at home by 5.  That's about it for "quality wins" for them.  They went 21-6 and won their conference last season, and got annihilated at Wittenberg in the first round of the NCAAs, 76-40.  I saw them play at Denison 3 days after their win at Rochester, and the game was competitive until the last minute (LEC won by 12.)  Denison is 3-17 and in last place in the NCAC.  But then again, Denison took Wittenberg to triple overtime, so draw your own conclusions.

That is a big mistake. I imagine that difference would cause Hope to jump in front of at least Witt and maybe even Wooster. Fortunately, this is the first set of rankings so there is time to get this fixed. I hope someone in the Hope AD office notices the error and informs the NCAA. President Brand is there today. Maybe HopeConvert can slip him a note at the game.

It is indeed a big mistake.  It looks like I owe hope1 an apology.  :-[  I guess s/he's smarter than the NCAA!  :)

Fortunately the weekly rankings mean exactly nothing.  What matters is that they get it right prior to Selection Sunday and Matchup Monday.

At least we don't have to stand out in the cold since the doors are already open for the women's game.

Love it!  And it helped (well for 15 seconds or so...)

I'll be headed to the dear DeVos in a mere, um, 1 hour, 21 minutes.  You might not want to be on the road right about then! 8)

It appears you can connect to the WGVU website from the following link:

http://www.hopecalvin.com/men/

Click on where it says "WGVU Video Webcast."

The game will be blogged by the NCAA at http://www.doubleazone.com/

Take a look at the website to see their comments on "The Rivalry." Brand said at lunch today that he thinks there will be no basketball game in the country this week more hotly or passionately contested than this one. The only difference with Duke/Carolina, he said, is genetics, not competitive desire. He missed all the theological issues at stake, but I suppose that would be too much to expect from a philosopher.

Boy do I have great faith in a system that can't even decide what games should or shouldn't count. :-\

A bit early to worry about that jazz.  But I'll add it really doesn't matter where Hope is ranked within the region, they'll most likely be paired against teams from the Midwest Region like Wheaton, Carthage, Aurora, Elmhurst, Chicago.
