Not to change the subject or anything but.......

This kid scored 50 points in 3 quarters of a High School game.

Wow! Glad the coach pulled him out when he did. But the most impressive stat has to be his shooting percentage! 8-12 from 3, 11-12 FT, and 9-10 from inside the arc. Talk about hot. Reminds me of Calvin the first 5 minutes last night :( >:(

When does he transfer to Hope?  :D

midseason  ;)

Yes it's true, Hope does indeed take mid-season high school transfers.  :D

Speaking of high schoolers, did anyone know the gentlemen with the VIP seats right behind the bench durings Wednesdays game? Was there with his mother I believe...

Not starting a debate about admission standards.

I thought Calvin was having trouble filling their Freshman classes, they were a couple years ago.  Hope doesn't have enough room for its Freshman classes, .........thats all I meant.

Calvin caps enrollment at 4,200.  This fall there were 4,199 (really) . . . I think they're working hard to fill that last slot.

Calvin didn't want to embarrass the competition by getting 4200 so they just ran out the clock on their final possession. ;)

Actually I believe that last spot in Calvin's student enrollment is in case any "special" mid-season transfer becomes available.  It's the equivalent to leaving a little salary cap room for the trade deadline.

Anyways, Hello everyone.  A LONG LONG time lurker and 2001 Calvin grad and 1st time poster.  Love everyones contributions and observations, it definetly helps me stay in touch with MIAA bball while not living in Grand Rapids anymore.

Beating the dead horse for this site is kinda like the old bit siren that WDFN in Detroit has.

Whenever someone 'beats a dead horse' we should just post the picture.

I think we need a new topic since I don't think it will take 45 hours to break down this weekends games. I am here with a suggestion.

I ask for your thoughts on the following:
What are the legal constitutional and policy arguments in favor of the proposed military commission rules for detainees?

Your answers may be submitted on the board or emailed to

PS I give up on figuring out why the email address keeps coming out funny.

PPS I am going for levity not trying to create a political broohaha

I suggest you start with Hamdan vs. Rumsfeld, 126 S. Ct. 2749 (2006). Please read all concurring and dissenting opinions (94 pages). Compare and contrast. Papers are due Friday at 5 pm. ;)

AND GIVE THEM NEGATIVE KARMA!  MUHAHAHAHAHA.

Just kidding, I can't give negative karma or karma out yet.  How does that all work?  Can one person only give out so much karma or negative karma each day?  Can it just be one karma point to one person each day?  If so, looks like 3 people have given me negative karma for just today!

You can only give the same person karma once every 24 hours, you can't give yourself karma, and if you continually praise or smite an individual poster you run out of karma to give that individual. For more on karma go to d3hoops front page and click on the Site FAQ link.

You got me looking around more at the sites features, and I stumbled into this.  I had no clue Hope played against Bo Ryan's team(current Wisconsin coach) in the '98 title game.  That is the same Bo Ryan right?
