No, this particular Bo Ryan used to play defensive back and wear #28 for Hope. ;)

I watched a replay of the game last night.  Bret Bakita told this story about a conversation between Private Vande Streek and  Major Etterbeek at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.

The conversation went something like this:

Etterbeek: Vande Streek, that sounds Dutch

Vande Streek: Yes, Sir

Etterbeek:  Where you from

Vande Streek: Grand Rapids, Sir

Etterbeek:  Are you related to the Calvin College Basketball Coach?

Vande Streek:  That's my Dad, Sir

Etterbeek:  I attended Hope College.  Glen Van Wieren was my best friend when I was there.

It seems appropriate that Brian Vande Streek would choose joining the Black Knights over singing Anchors Aweigh in the Navy

Speaking of high schoolers, did anyone know the gentlemen with the VIP seats right behind the bench durings Wednesdays game? Was there with his mother I believe...

That was a player from Midland (not sure if Midland High or Dow) who is their PG.....I dont know his name (cant remember) but everyone from small D-1 on down including GVSU and CMU is very interested.

If I know who you are talking about I beleive he is from Midland Dow HS.  William Bowser is his name I think.

I thought he was already committed to Hope.  Perhaps he's received some interest from bigger schools and he is rethinking that decision.  If that's the case he will be in a Hope uniform in January/February of '09. ;)

Hmmm, new joke yet Knight fans?  that one is getting old.......
Rumor has it the little kid with the Calvin flag has already committed to Hope because Hope students have more fun ....  It seems to be quite a burden knowing you are the elect if you attend or have attended Calvin.

Same Bo Ryan; different Bob Knight.  ;)

Actually, I had also heard that he was planning on attending Hope.

William Bowser or the Calvin flag kid?

And wasn't the bass singer in Sha-Na-Na named William Bowser?

Sorry for the confusion.  I heard Bowser was planning on Hope.  As of right now, I would guess the kid is planning on Calvin.

Since the kids name has made it to the board........

The point guard from Midland is Kelvin Carter

William Bowser is 6-5 and is from Midland Dow........and Carter's friend.  Both are interested in Hope.
