I think Calvin has nearly solidified the #2 spot, right now they have the tie-breaker with TSU should it come to that, and I suppose its now possible for Adrian to get the #3 spot by beating Tri-State, and a Hope win over TSU next Saturday.

I see Calvin dropping one more MIAA game before the tourney.  Then who's #2 seed?

Interesting side note - The Holland Sentinel today has an article about the Calvin game from last night, but nothing but a score for the Hope game.  The GR Press on the other hand, has articles about both.  ???

FDF: The Grand Rapids Press returned the favor from the Tuesday edition of the Sentinel. Sunday's paper gave a full article to the Hope win over Adrian written by Steve Ungrey while the Calvin game (played in Grand Rapids) got a two sentence blurb containing little more than stats from the game against Olivet. ???

There's a women's board, no?

B) Have you ever seen much get posted there?

Just because the women's board is not as active as this one doesn't mean topics directly on point for that board should be discussed here.  That's a self-defeating argument.  Has it occurred to you that there might be more traffic on the women's MIAA board if discussions of the women's MIAA were posted there instead of here?

Thanks David...

So I guess when I logged on yesterday to check in, and noticed someone commenting on the woman's game, the preferred response would have been to chastise them and move to the other board, rather than just replying???

Again... I'd hate to muck up our pristine men's board with a few "off topics"!

Next time I'll know better...

Actually, yes, that would've been a better course of action.

Make-up call.  Learned that from Todd Geerlings.   ;)
If there is one thing I've learned from this board it's this: There's more than one way to split a hair.

I believe what hope1 is saying that since Calvin has the tie breaker with Tri-State (I believe he is correct on that), and even if Calvin splits their final two games they can't do worse than finish in a tie for second with Tri-State (because Calvin currently has a one game lead on the Thunder) and Calvin would then be the #2 seed.

Not quite................if Tri-State were to beat both Adrian and Hope next Saturday and end up tied with Calvin in 2nd..............TSU has the tie-breaker and would get the #2 seed by being 2-0 vs Adrian to Calvin's 1-1.  Both would be 1-1 vs Hope.   TSU must beat Hope to win any tie-breaker  with Calvin.   Tie-breaker matchups could also depend on who this mythical loss Calvin suffers is to.  Albion still has an outside shot at #4.

Tri-State must win both games this week to have any shot at the #2 seed.

Dang it Sac:  I was doing the research, and you beat me to the post. :)

What a board.  One reads post after post of drivel, and then pays a short complement TO A GREAT WOMEN'S TEAM WIN over a highly ranked team and some driveling purist go beserk! ;D ??? ::) :( :o ;)

Sadly true. :D I was a fool to try without access to your data base. ;)
My preferred way to see Calvin #2 is to win the next two games. :)

Yesterday contained at least a half-dozen posts about the women's game. That's what I'm referring to, and I'm fairly positive it's what David is referring to as well.

With a few exceptions, I don't really care what does and doesn't get discussed on this board.  However, there is an MIAA women's board, and it's far and away the most active women's board in the Great Lakes.  There were posters present over there discussing the women's Hope/Calvin game.  There is no good reason not to use that board to update and discuss a women's game--it's better for both boards.  That's all I'm saying.

And I wouldn't have mentioned anything at all had NW Hope Fan not responded to Stinger in such an obnoxious way.

sac

Personally I saw nothing wrong with updating a women's score on a board where a number of posters have a rooting interest at a time when those people were tuning into their respective men's games.

I don't get the beef.........which wasn't much to begin with. ???

Under that scenario sac is right (of course :)). The way Tri-State and Calvin could tie for second with Calvin getting the #2 seed would be if Calvin loses their final two games and finishes 9-5. If Tri-State loses to Hope but beats Adrian the Thunder finish 9-5 and then Calvin wins the tie-breaker because they beat Hope once. So as sac states TSU must beat Hope to win any tie-breaker with Calvin.
