Maybe you can figure out a "Quality of Karma Index," or QoKI, which takes into account the karma of the poster who applauds or smites you, and whether you are applauded or smited on your home board on on an "away" (or "neutral") board?  If you can do that, I'd say you've out-researched sac!  :D

At the very least, Pat would have to start gathering in his database information about particular posts that have been smit.

With that information, one could come up with quite a nice QOKI, but I'm thinking more along the lines of offensive and defensive smite-power statistics, home board advantage, perhaps a power ranking for each post. I think you'd have to call them Sassy ratings.

Sac, I'm still trying to figure this one out. Are you saying that at Hope you're looser because you sing loudly, drink until you fall over backwards, drink some more to recover, and repeat?  ??? ;) :D

Since I can't out-research SAC, I decided to simply research something meaningless: Karma per post, or KPP (maybe roughrider can give a cogent analysis):

Is it just me, or do the numbers indicate that Hope fans get smitten more than Calvin fans? Is this some sort of system of double predestination: the Calvin fans reward each other and damn the Hopesters? What type of harsh justice is in the knights' soul? Then again, the RCA has always had a kinder, gentler Calvinism.

Thanks, NWHF.  I apologize too for inflaming things, although that was not my intent.  I just want to draw attention to the women's half of this site whenever I can; I think the women deserve it.  But I'm sorry that I contributed to the overheating of this conversation.  :-[

Sorry I started it with giving an update to the game.  I kind of forgot there was a women's board :'(

After telling us all you are golfing in South Carolina while most everyone is freezing in MI and I am in a library in DC I think you are lucky you have any karma left!!!

It doesn't appear then, that it is golf that has cost me. I think my fate appears to be that of all converts when dealing with those from his/her past. Just a hypothesis.

For the most part Karma (which most of us claim to not care a thing about) is up for most people from last year. People who hovered in the single digits last year are now in the 30-80 range... Most of is because there are actually more people who can give and take Karma than last year, But I also see a generally friendlier board.

It is interesting again because of the numbers, that one mildly Karma plus or minus comment last year might only add or subtract Karma in small numbers, while this year those same comments plunge someone into the depths, or catapult them to the upper reaches of Karmaness...

Or could it be that the Hopesters have "fans"  ::) throughout the conference?
Why fret about karma when you can luxuriate in the liberation of living in "looserville?" ;) :D

KnightSlappy

I feel like last year even observations would end up in negative karma.  For example if I said, "It looked like Brandon Crawford got outworked down-low by Calvin's defense." I would lose some karma.  It seems like this year more posters are quick with the karma, and slow with the smite.

For the record, I am in the 'smited' camp.  And I think I should be included in the KPP calculation
