To the best of my knowledge, where the first-round games are played has no effect on whether or not they count against the 25-game limit.  The CCIW (as David pointed out) will be a special case (it doesn't begin until 2009) because they are still 'officially' a 4-team tourney, with 'play-in games' as still part of the regular conference schedule.

It's a crock, of course - it IS an 8-team tourney in all-but-name (and 25-game limit).  It was done for the sake of 'equity' (women's bball and all other sports with tourneys will remain 4-team), but it raises some interesting possibilities that I'm not sure they've thought through - e.g., to seed the play-in games they will already have to decide the regular season #1, etc.  Since the CCIW crowns the regular-season champ as 'conference champ' (not the tourney champ, which is just for pool A purposes), what if the regular season #1 loses the play-in game, falling to #2?  Are they or are they not the conference champion?!  They were #1 after the double round-robin, but are #2 at the end of the 'regular' season.  Hmmm...

Wouldn't the regular season #1 still be the co-champion if they lost the regular season/play-in game?  I suppose it depends on the use of a tie-breaker.  If they had a better regular season record, they could lose and still be tied.  If they were tied, they would be (expecting to be) co-champions prior to the loss.  But what a silly way to do it.

Hornets are up 19-17 midway through the 1st half.

Britons up 30-24 with 5 to go in the first. Silas is having a solid first half.

After a slow start Hope has gone on a 29-11 run to create a 41-20 lead for itself with 4 minutes to go in the first half and it looks like the MIAA tourney will be at The Dick.

Albion up 40-37 at the half

Silas leads the way with 19, Griffin has 10 for Calvin

Can anyone explain how John Carrol is second in the new regional rankings ahead of Witt, Woo, and Hope despite its 5 losses in region? Anyone? ??? ???

Mr. Ypsi

I just raised that same point on the NCAC board.  IMO the QOWI gap is not nearly large enough to outweigh 2 or 3 more in-region losses.

Absolutely not. I realize Hope lost but not Witt and Woo. Moreover, John Caroll jumped 3 spots!!! Very curious.

Kzoo is up 38-29 at the half.  Matt Kellogg is leading the Hornets with a "Muhlenberg" type half:  18 pts, 7-7 from the field, 4-4 from the line.

11 Assts to 4 TO's for the Hornets at the half. That is the type of execution they need.

Maybe they just need to play Olivet more often

Tri-State up 15-7, not the start Adrian was looking for, I'm sure.  11:30 to go first half.

Calvin builds a 5 point lead out of halftime, their largest lead of the game.  Silas a little too "on fire" so far for my liking.

Don't you want Calvin to win so they are two better good quality wins you had over us to start the year?

Yes, Hope needs Calvin to win. I hate this point where you have to root for your number one rival.
