Reimink requested the video of the pass be put on YouTube, as he didn't see it.

I think Jesse may work on that eyes-in-the-back-of-the-head thing between now and Friday.

The look on his face after he realized what happened was priceless. Mind you - it was behind him. He'll probably need a good barber to even out the little patch of hair that got shaved off.
One Mississippi, Two Mississippi...

I might be being mean here, but is it safe to say we could have put together 5 posters and scored more than 10 points in a half vs Calvin.

Oldknight used to play, I can stand in a corner and chuck 3's...........

T-E-N points.........in a HALF. :o

Does our poll creator know something the rest of us don't about potential protests to tonight's results which might allow Alma, Olivet, Kzoo, or Albion to return as MIAA tourney contenders?

I would probably be most useful dishing assists out on the D3Hoops all-star team, though I can body in the paint as well.

I tried to edit the poll, but couldn't get rid of the other 4 teams........they kept popping back in the poll.  So we're stuck with them......unless someone else knows how to do it.

I am really hoping that there is a better turnout for the game on friday night against Adrian! Then on Saturday (if Hope makes it there) there is another problem. Hope College decided to plan there winter dance on the night of the MIAA Championship!!!! Some times I wonder what is going on with the people that plan these dumb things!!! I am sure there would still be a good turnout if they play Calvin but still it drives me NUTS!!!

The intensity of the game at the Fieldhouse ended really early tonight. Calvin never trailed and from a 7-6 lead they ended the half on a 31-4 run over the last 14 minutes of the first half. It was a game quite similar to Calvin's 47 point win over the Comets of a couple weeks ago. Once Olivet realized they weren't going to win they quit. It's a good thing Brandon Way played and hit three 3's because if he hadn't Calvin would have led at the half by the score of 38-1. Yikes! I can't ever remember watching a college game where one team played an entire half of basketball and didn't make a single two point basket but that's what happened to Olivet. It was a combination of bad shooting, good defense by Calvin, poor ball handling (12 first half turnovers) and no second shot opportunities for Olivet (28-12 on the boards in favor of Calvin in the first half).

Our newly crowned Freshman of the Year must have had a night on the town after sac handed him the trophy on his way back from the Breslin (sac; where did you take Andy last night?) because he had a tough game and was clearly outplayed by both of Calvin's freshmen. He scored 7 meaningless points--all of them in the last 5 minutes of the game. Can I retract my vote for Freshman of the Year? ;) In his defense I will say that Andy was in foul trouble all night which limited his playing time. Sierminski will be a good player in this league--he's mobile, strong and has a sweet stroke from beyond the arc. It just wasn't his night.

After Saturday's game at Kalamazoo it seems that the league officials were sent a memo about looking our for and calling those illegal slide-screens that we saw on almost every possession at the Rolla Dome. There were more illegal pick calls tonight than I have seen in some time.

Al's skepticism about the Knights' win is justified. It's hard to know how much of tonight's easy win was Calvin playing very well and how much was Olivet's incompetence but there were encouraging signs. I thought Mantel played very well. He was matched up against Sierminski down low several times and Andy couldn't really handle him. Snoeyink had a nice game again and Katt played well too. It looks to me like Tim is destined to take over the Snoeyink chair next year. One nice thing about this game is that no one played major minutes and everyone got to play. With three games in four days (hopefully) that helps.

Looking at the play by play of the Adrian- Albion game, it looks like Adrian tried to give it away.  It looks like Adrian had complete control all game long and was still up 14 with 3:30 to go.  Albion came back and took a 1 point lead with 8 seconds to go.  Adrian got a layup and made a foul shot to win by 2.

Anyone know if this was Mike Turner's last game?

If Calvin wins Friday night I may have to break out the Johnny Cash attire to cheer on the Buckster's Bulldogs.   ;D

Oh, I understand your pain. My sophomore year at Hope the MIAA championship game was played at Albion on a Saturday night. Just the week before one of my good friends comes up to me and another male friend and she asks one of us to go to her Volleyball formal dance with her the night of the championship. Before a hummingbird could have flapped its wings once my friend said "NO." And so I was stuck missing the championship game (and GVW's 500th victory) to attend some silly volleyball dance because I was being the good friend. I went to Albion the night before to watch an epic battle that I believe had Hope beating Calvin 89-88 in OT. Don Overbeek and Jeremy Veenstra were both seniors that year and just battled the entire game. It was a classic game. The next night my friend returned for the championship game in which Hope came back from a double digit second half deficit to win after Albion's President apologized for his students poor behavior the night before directed at Hope fans leaving the game (I have had a particular disdain towards Albion since that night.) I kept going to the car at the dance to check the score but it wasn't the same. :'(

Not too much to say about the Calvin game either, like Alma, Olivet is a bad team.    Calvin played a strong first half, but they looked a little shaky to start the second half.  Solid games from Smith, Mantell, and Kott.

You've got no idea how right you are.  Adrian had Albion at arm's length for the vast majority of the game, and by my count, played 30 great minutes, 5 good minutes, and had 5 minutes they'd like to have back.  Albion made an incredible rally, sparked mostly by Silas, who really woke up after a quiet first half.  After the Britons clawed all the way back, trailing 63-62,  Adrian had the ball, with the full court to travel.  With Albion pressing, Corey Smith darted toward the basket like a rabbit with its tail on fire (tip of the cap to the late Bob Ufer), and caught a football style pass at the free throw line only to miss the layup.  Albion came down the floor, and Drew Yancey knocked down amidrange jumper on the baseline with something like 8 seconds left.  Then, the Corey Smith play was essentially reenacted when Andy Kubish was hit with a deep pass, which he fired across the floor to a well-guarded Steve Thornton, who made the layup and the ensuing free throw with 6-point-something remaining.

Albion took a timeout, put together a play, got off a halfway decent look from just inside the three point line.  That shot airballed, but a Briton was parked under the basket to retrieve it, and he made the layup, according the the refs, JUUUUUUUUUST after the buzzer.  Suffice it to say that the Albion assistant coaches chased the refs out of the gym, Albion fans were livid, and Adrian fans were relieved.  From where I was, it looked like the shot was probably good, but I admit I didn't have the best angle.  Other fans, whom I would consider to be credible, believed that the ball was still in the shooter's hand as the clock expired.  Thankfully, this game was not against Hope or Calvin, because if it were, this board would have about 100 more pages of conspiracy theory ;).

At any rate, this is likely to be my last post for a week and a half, unless I can find a computer down in Charlotte to use.  Wish I could be at the game this Friday, I think Adrian could well give Hope quite a scare, but the links are calling my name.  Best of luck to the everyone, and enjoy the games this weekend!

Go Bulldogs!  Beat H***!!

Also, it's not quite a Cramer dunk on YouTube, but the Adrian website has a short video of a Desmond Young layup from tonight's game.  Here's the link, if anyone's interested:
