Wow!

Thanks for the details, Bulldogalum.  Have to say its another good argument for video availablitiy at the scorers table.

The MIAA has some experience trying to mess with video evidence, I'd be interested to know if they made an attempt to review the final play.

Keep it on the shortgrass!

It let me edit them. Hope this helps.

Won't help the joker who picked Alma much. :D

Thanks

MIAA = Bush league officiating

Even though I wasn't there I still believe we were screwed.

Tough loss for the Brits - too bad they had to wait til 3:30 left to play to get going.  I thought they'd get on a roll during tourney time.  Good luck to Adrian against H_ _ _ .

Time for Tiger's baseball - see you all next winter...

I am really hoping that there is a better turnout for the game on friday night against Adrian! Then on Saturday (if Hope makes it there) there is another problem. Hope College decided to plan there winter dance on the night of the MIAA Championship!!!! Some times I wonder what is going on with the people that plan these dumb things!!! I am sure there would still be a good turnout if they play Calvin but still it drives me NUTS!!!

A Calvin person might suggest that this is what Hope gets for scheduling dances. ;)

Bulldogalum: Thanks for the report. That sounds like an incredible ending. Hit 'em straight.

By the way, now that I have the power of karma, my first act will be to applaud DCHopeNut for the admirable way he handled Heidegger. I still owe him for that. The will wills what it wills. From this point forward, only basketball.

What's up with the media ban on the Dutchmen?  Neither the Holland Sentinel nor the GR Press have stories about last night's game.  They have some Calvin coverage, and the Sentinel talks about tonight's women's game, but nothing about the men's game.  Is there something in a hard copy of either paper that isn't online?  Frosts my cookies, I tell ya!   :-\ :(

Edit note:  Mystery partially solved -- in the Sentinel the article is under national sports, not local sports.  My bad.

The person at Hope responsible for scheduling the dance is a well placed Calvinite, a deep mole who is slowly infiltrating his way into the upper echelons of Hope administration. Someone in the PolySci department perhaps? ;) :-X

As for Heidegger--what does he know about existential thought? He denied the reality of of the statement, "I follow Pat Coleman's website on D3 Hoops, therefore I am."  :o

Not much to say or add about 3 of last night's games.  FDF had it right at boring.  :D   Now the Adrian/Albion affair (which most of us predicted would be the game of the night) left little to be desired.  A great Albion rally followed by a killer Adrian basket, and for frosting on the cake a controversial call on a late shot.  Having been on both sides of that call it is a heart breaker. :)
Now on to Friday night, and the "real games".  Still think Calvin, and Hope are the decided favorites.  If Tri state gets hot they will force calvin to work hard, but as long as Calvin doesn't fold offensively  (early) they can go point for point against the the Thunder.  Hope should handle Adrian with little difficulty.

Does our poll creator know something the rest of us don't about potential protests to tonight's results which might allow Alma, Olivet, Kzoo, or Albion to return as MIAA tourney contenders?

I would probably be most useful dishing assists out on the D3Hoops all-star team, though I can body in the paint as well.

I'm in -I'll be the defensive charge taking specialist - I can stand still for long periods of time, and eventually someone will run into me

I'm not too sure if Calvin played well last night or if Olivet just played that bad.  Brandon Way hit a couple of 3s relatively early and I thought the Comets may hang around for a while, but then Way hit the bench and Calvin went on a run and that's all she wrote.  Way too many missed shots by the comets from every part of the floor including the stripe.  The vast majority of their points came within the last seven minutes, when I Calvin had so many players off the bench that I think even Lisa Winkle checked into the game for a while.  Without Way the Comets would have only had 1 point in the first half.  I know the MIAA-posters team can do better than that.

Apparently you have not watched many Adrian/Hope MIAA tournament games in the past.

An Adrian/Calvin conference tourney final played in Holland? That's never happened before has it? ;) :-X

I just posted in the pick 'em page the standings after the first round.  The thing that amazed me is that we had 20 pickers, and only 4 of them picked Adrian to win.   :-[    You would think the predominant choice would be to choose the top 4 teams, but the pickers were certainly showing no love for the Bulldogs.

Eleven of the 14 pickers in the NCAC pick 'ems (where we are also picking the MIAA, OAC, and CCIW tournaments) also went with Albion.  But we aren't expected to know what we're talking about; what's your excuse?  ??? ;D

We all know the MIAA is down this year, why wouldn't the pickers be down, too?
