They could keep it very similar. The Select Bank Classic Could be Calvin v. Cornerstone with Hope v. Aquinas the next.  Then Calvin v. Aquinas and Hope v. Cornerstone.  That way it is still west Michigan based and Calvin and Hope wouldn't meet.  I don't necessarily like D3 vs. NAIA matchups but at leats Aquinas and Cornerstone normally provide pretty good matchups.

I am providing updates to the Lake Erie-Penn St. Behrend AMCC championship game on the MIAA/OAC/NCAC update board. Its very important for Hope's Pool C chances that Lake Erie wins the tourney and automatic bid from the AMCC, otherwise they would lock up a Pool C bid.

Based on the attendance it seems to me that the arguement for keeping the Select tournament is at best weak.  Not sure at this point it really works to the advantage of any of the schools involved.  I would much rather see a matchup with the OAC or NCAC.  The CCIW match does nothing for Calvin.

That's true. Calvin and Wheaton deserve each other at least once a year though.

I think most of us would love to see an MIAA matchup with either the OAC or NCAC.

??? How's that?

Neither Wheaton or Carthage is in-region.

Neither are Cornerstone and Aquinas nor are many of the OAC and NCAC teams (I think). I'm less concerned with the in-region status of these games and simply would like to see Calvin play quality D3 opponents.

Mr. Ypsi

All OAC and NCAC teams are in-region games, since all are in the GL region.

Is that true irrespective of distance?

Yes. Every team in the MIAA, NCAC, PresAC, and OAC is a Great Lakes Region team.

Yes.  A game is in-region if it meets ANY of four standards:

same conference (hence WashU vs. NYU is in-region despite meeting none of the standards except both are UAA)
same region (thus MIAA games against any team in the OAC, NCAC, PresAC, or AMCC are in-region)
same administrative region (e.g., Wheaton can play in Hawaii and be in-region, but not in Grand Rapids!)
within 200 miles (however the NCAA may determine that!)

Thanks guys. All makes perfect sense to me. ::)

Not necessarily AMCC teams, Chuck. The AMCC is split between three different regions: Great Lakes (Lake Erie, PSU-Behrend, Frostburg State, and Pitt-Greensburg); East (Medaille and Hilbert); and Middle Atlantic (Pitt-Bradford, Mount Aloysius, PSU-Altoona, and LaRoche). An MIAA team would only be playing a regional contest if it played Lake Erie, PSU-Behrend, Frostburg State, or Pitt-Greensburg.
