Should't be suprised by the draw at all,.........I'm actually very happy that Wooster's bracket is essentially with the East Region......I would be licking my chops if I were Wooster.  Their toughest 2 games will potentially be this weekend.

What of course no one has pointed out is both schools landed smack in the middle of UW-Stevens Points bracket.  Good luck with that.  I would not at all be surprised to see a Hope or  Calvin team in the Sweet 16.

Lake Erie getting a bye is a joke.

FDF:  Have to agree looking at those numbers I think Hope matches up very well.  Chicago appears to go with 3 guards a good % of the time, and isn't either an especially tall team or one that features inside play.
Sac:  All day yesterday it sort of appeared that Lake Erie was going to get the bye.  Go figure.  Perhaps next years formula will preclude that sort of thing.  I noticed UW-SP right awy, but figured no matter where either Hope or Calvin went they were facing a steep up hill battle.

Oh my, first of all I think Calvin ended up with a better first round opponent. Aurora seems like less of a battle tested team than Chicago. So despite the fact that Hope had better numbers in all the categories being measured I believe that Hope has the tougher first round match up. I guess Aurora had better numbers than Chicago then but I doubt many of us believe that head to head Aurora would beat Chicago more often than not.

As far as a Hope-Calvin V I just can't take it. Sorry, I think I may actually consider rooting against Calvin in the first round (I honestly would normally root for them in the tourney if they weren't playing Hope) but this year I just can't take a fifth match up. Its too much.

Hope and Chicago shared one common opponent this year. Chicago beat Wheaton 81-77 in a home game early in the year. As we all know Hope lost to Wheaton at Carthage by 5ish points. I would say it should be a very very even match up and a tight game. I expect both teams should draw good fan support in Aurora.

Agree about not being able to take another Calvin-Hope match-up.  I usually do root for Hope in the NCAA tourney, but it will be hard to if Calvin wins the first round game.  Why can't it be like 2005 where they scheduled Albion and Calvin to meet in the elite 8 if they both kept winning?

It is a joke. And it's a problem that could be solved by expanding the field to 64.

I was looking at U of C's schedule. Even though they have more Nobel Prize winners than Hope, I think Hope actually played a tougher basketball schedule. Thanks to FDF for the stats. I think we are going to match-up well against them.

The game a few years ago at Aurora was a real treat.  I remember a play where Meckes took a pretty good charge that ended in a no call, the aurora player kept the ball in the paint with Meckes on his back.  When he went for the shot Meckes jumped from the floor to block the shot!

Does anyone know if Aurora still has the multi-purpose gymnastics type floor?

Personal opinion but I don't think you should be playing NCAA tourney games on a multi-purpose gymnastics floor. Get a wood floor or let someone else host!

Game times would suggest a larger crowd for Calvin with the extra couple hours of travel time to see a 9pm EST game.  Lets hope we avoid any major snow events and can get two great crowds in Aurora..........show the NCAA a little something about fan support (I'm pretty miffed the Calvin women are on the road)

I'm also hoping for a split gym but I doubt it will happen.  I wonder if the Aurora ticket person has any idea what kind of hell their life will be for 18 hours if both Hope and Calvin win. :D

Ya think the IT guys at Chicago.edu and aurora.edu can figure out the spike in internet traffic today. :D

BOO FREAKIN' HISS to the NCAA for sending the Hope ladies to DePauw this year after the MESS that was last season. I was fortunate/unfortunate to see that elite 8 game and the mess it caused after the fact. We don't need to dive back into the argument...but for those of us that were there...it was CRAP!

Looking at the Aurora site it appears Larry Welton is the key.  6'6" forward.
6 guys with over 20 minutes each, and scoring looks spread out over 4 players.  Based on the minutes it looks like Calvin has an advantage in bench strenght.  Based on the rosters Calvin has a definite height advantage.  Keys may well be stopping Welton, and keeping turnovers low.

More Heisman Trophy winners too. :o

I have a feeling Welton will still get his points against Calvin.  If the Knights can play solid D and keep the other guys from finding the bucket, Calvin could look forward to a matchup with Chicago. ;)

Does anyone know how an outoftowner can get tickets the games this weekend?  I live in St Louis and I'm considering making a trip up to Chicago to watch Calvin, but I don't want to go without a ticket.  I know last time Calvin played at Aurora, the outnumbered their fans almost 3 to 1.  If you have an suggestions, I'd appreciate it.
