Congrats to Calvin on turning their season completely around.  After their loss at Wooster, I would have never predicted they would be in the position they are in now! :o

Of course, I would have also never predicted that Calvin vs. Hope V would be taking place in Aurora, IL for that matter! ;D

As I wrote on another board, the Knights learned some bitter (but important) lessons from their trip to Mose Hole--like how hard you have to compete for the full 40.

Mr. Ypsi

Question for ANYONE - I know a number of teams have played each other 4 times in a season, but has FIVE times ever occurred before?

Can't the two teams drive back tomorrow morning and play the game in west Michigan? :(

SKOT

This is probably a stupid question, but does anyone have a single ticket for tomorrow evening?  I need one more.  Please PM or email me if you can help!  Thankyou

They were selling 4 tickets per person after the Hope game, if you wanted them.  Since Aurora fans, which had a majority of the tickets, and the Chicago fans probably did not buy tickets for Sat., I would think that you can get them at the door easily on Sat. night.

Sec: 7.  Beg to differ.  If Hope is so good why are all Hope posters so afraid of Calvin? :D

Who are you talking about... I'm not afraid... and would love to win the rubber match! Bring on the Knights!  ;D

Dougie Fresh was announcing the South Christian game tonight instead for some reason.  Boy I missed him.

Good question.  I wouldn't think so.  Maybe those awful d3 tourney committee people wanted to see history happen by matching them up for a possible second round game?

I'll be at the UM-OSU game tomorrow instead of the Hope-Calvin game.  To tell you the truth, if I was at the Hope-Calvin game tomorrow and the game was close at the end, I don't know if I'd be able to take it.

Key of the game tomorrow for the Knights: Don't let Cramer take over the game.

Greek Tragedy

The NathCon is ONE YEAR(S) old.

Calvin did everything possible to throw that game away.  It looked like Calvin was going run Aurora out of their own building, going up 15 at half time, but it was more during the 1st half.  Aurora's athleticism takes over and ties it at 51 but they just can't get over the hump.  Your guards hit some key 3s and got some lucky bounces (offensive rebound on a missed FT etc).  Great, exciting game for a neutral fan like me.

I'm sure there will be plenty of tickets left.  I don't see any Aurora or chicago fans showing up.

Good Morning from Munich!!! I just finished my 11AM Pilsner and checked scores. I donĀ“t believe it is game 5. GO HOPE!!!!

What an odd development.  The Rivalry that can put 11,000 fans in the seats will play in front of its smallest crowd in years!  It's like Rocky and Apollo fighting it out in the empty gym.

That's 3-0 for Calvin vs. top-15 teams in the last month...

It would be real nice to go 4-0 tonight.

As impressive as the Knights were in the first half, they really showed me something in not letting the Spartans carry the momentum all the way to a lead.  Aurora was able to come back by playing their style of ball with an athletic run and gun style.  Calvin kept AU in the half court in the first half which made AU look pretty uncomfortable, similar to what happened in 2005.

The Knights were able to frustrate Larry Welton Jr, who looked like he was used to drawing more fouls on his way to the hoop against lesser opponents.  Larry getting stuffed by the rim on a breakaway was also a funny moment.  You have to keep guys like him in perspective, there is a reason he's playing DIII and not something higher but he has some skills.

No matter where you go, the refs are always questionable.  Those guys were worse than anything I have seen in the MIAA.  Maybe it was just perceived inconsistency because the teams play different styles but wow, Mantel and Meckes repeatedly getting hacked and they swallow the whistles.  Can't complain too much after a win.

And Kudos to Calvin for using that to their advantage at the end of the game.
