It's tough to beat Hope 3 times in 3 and half weeks.

If you go back a few pages you'll note that DarkKnight and I--while holding down the fort in West Michigan--figured out a Dutch plot that undoubtedly contributed to Calvin's Saturday night demise in Aurora. WFUR's anticipated 8 pm broadcast started late due to a radio program that ran until about 8:20. And what program was on the station of Calvin College basketball forcing us to choose between a study of John 6 and the Hope broadcast team on AM 1450? David Bast and--get this--"Words of Hope" discussing the hard sayings of Jesus. :o :o And Rev. Bast? A graduate of Hope College and Western Theological Seminary. A more nefarious plot has never been hatched in this rivalry. It makes last year's theft of the little kid's foam finger at DeVos look like child's play. Hey, wait a minute that was child's play. The irony of that radio broadcast interruption was unmistakable and gave me an uneasy feeling about the Knights' chances.
+K for you!

Do we know where these guys came from?  I want to send the schools in that league a sympathy card for putting up with them all season...

I asked a well-known and very informed neutral observer/poster what he thought of the officiating. He told me what conference it was, but I can't remember what he said. He did say it was a terribly officiated game (I agree - about the worst I've ever seen) but that it was accidentally even. That was my sense as well: that when it all shook out both schools got hosed pretty badly.

oldnight - Was Rev. Bast by any chance talking about the passage where Jesus walks on water? Because.... he could have been foretelling about the possible route for the Flying Dutchmen to take as they travel to Wisconsin?  (frozen water that is!!  :)  )

I couldn't agree more!  I just want to make sure that Joe Cooper doesn't take their applications for the MIAA!!   :)

Being a cruiser (and sometimes poster) on many boards, that seems to be the bottom line, best expectation, of many conferences - that the teams will get equally hosed! ;)  I think I could count the number of times posters have felt a game was well officiated on my extreme digits without even removing my socks. ;D

sac

thanks for reminding me al

I can't believe Dan Holts'...........uh, dunk, hasn't made it to YouTube.  Even better would be a close up of the Hope bench with a few shots of the Hope cheering section added in...............I've honestly never had such a good laugh at one of my own players expense.

Beauty.! ;) :D.......and we love ya Dan.

As best I recollect it (remember, I'm not only an old knight, I was also a steamed knight while waiting for the featured program of the evening), Rev. Bast mentioned that the hard sayings of Jesus can be hard either because they are hard to understand or because they're hard to accept. He then went on to discuss the passage "I am the bread of life" but made no mention of walking on water. I was waiting for him to bring up the hardest saying of all: "Hope wins, Hope wins." If that one came up I was headed to bed.

LOL!  Can't beat that, except to point out (however gently and well-meaninged) that hope is Biblically mentioned many times...Calvin -- not so much!   ;D :D ;D ;) 8)

You're right, hope (defined as an expectation or confidence) is mentioned a lot. But not Hope (as a proper noun)! ;)

oldnight:  But if Rev. Bast would have really said the saying that you really feared, "Hope wins, Hope wins" - he could have recieved +Karma for being both Biblical and sportslike at the same time!!   :)

Saw a billboard today.........

Got Karma?

I have to say after Hope won, I figured I'd be running a bit low. ;)

Yep, Point's got water fountains... when you walk in Quandt, there's one in the doorway next to the staircase, before you get to the consession stand.  There's one through the doors on the right, right below Terry Porter's picture with his old jersey, along with other retired jerseys from a few football players.

You have the OPTION to purchase water as well... but it's certainly not required!

Later this week, I'll try to come up with a list of places to eat in Stevens Point...and not the Perkins, Hardees, etc type food establishments!  I don't want it to scroll off too early, so I'll post it Wednesday (not sure if some fans are coming Thursday night or getting up early Friday).
