The WIAC board just indicated a split-session for Friday night, which would seem to go along with the earlier posts here indicating that tickets won't be a problem (except, that is, for our St. Louis friend).
And me! :( I have someone getting a ticket for me for the Point game, but that's not longer good for both games. Blah. I don't have any way to get a ticket for the Hope game... is there any way that could someone get me a ticket? I promise to pay you back...  They may be tickets at the door and all, but I am flying 2500 miles for these games... I'd like to be sure that I get to see all three of them!!! :-\

Here is the info from the Hope ticket office.  You can order your own ticket by phone, starting at 1pm tomorrow.

TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets go on sale at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the DeVos Fieldhouse. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4.50 for students. The ticket will be good only for Hope's game. Friday's games will be considered a "split session." Spectators at the first game will have to leave the gym before the second game begins. Tickets for the second game will be sold only at UW-Stevens Point depending on availability.

Tickets may be ordered with a credit card by calling 616-395-7136. Tickets will be left at "will-call" at Stevens Point. Ticket office hours are weekdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

GVW is going down to Wilmington, NC to visit with a 6'8" recruit before the DIII final four.  Glenn is really hoping to land this 4.0 student and president of his FCA group.

Thats all the info I have.

Basically, you have one day to buy tickets then.  Carroll's tickets go on sale today and so did Point's.  I heard or read, can't remember, that visiting teams must inform Point of any left over tickets by noon on THURSDAY (or sometime Thursday)...because Point fans will be able to buy any unused tickets from Carroll or Hope on Friday morning at 8 am.

Was there anything regarding how many tickets Hope got?  I'd assume half of the capacity.

Interesting that whoever did the write-up of Carroll says they are an uptempo team, and they have three players averaging over 29 minutes per game.  Looking at their two tournament wins,  4 starters played even more minutes:

That's some significant minutes there, and I think Hope's depth would be a big plus for the Dutchmen.

I don't think it will.  They're used to it...they play Grinnell twice a year (usually!) lol.  ;) If anything, it might effect them the second night...and if we're talking about the 2nd night, then the Dutchmen don't have to worry about Carroll!  :-[

Equating Hope and Grinnell - give me a break.  We actually play this thing called defense, at the same intensity (or maybe higher) than our offense.
I hope all the teams at this sectional have the same attitude about Hope that you do  ;)

In neither of our first posts did we mention defense.  You talked about depth (presumably regarding Hope being less tired than Carroll because they have players that play so many minutes.)  Defense was never mentioned, so I wasn't comparing Hope and Grinnell in that respect.  Defense or not, Grinnell makes you run...also, as you said, Carroll plays an uptempo style in the first place, so if being tired was a problem for them, those guys wouldn't play so many minutes...and they pushed the tempo vs. St. Thomas.  Grinnell gives up a lot of points, but they press all the time and force a lot of turnovers.  If you can beat the press, it's simple as 1-2-3 with layups...but, you have to beat it first.

And we also never really mentioned offense.  We were just talking about tempo - which to me affects both equally - since you can't really have both teams playing offense or both playing defense simultaneously - although I think I've seen some teams try  :D

I'm not discounting that Carroll is an uptempo team, and probably in great shape.  My comment was based on the fact that so is Hope, and looking at the stats:

- Hope plays better D (giving up 62.9 pts per game on 39.8% shooting) versus Carroll (giving up 75.8 pts per game on 45.8% shooting).  There are a lot of teams that would love to average 75.8 points per game and shoot 45.8%.  That does not point to an overly good defense

- Hope also plays more guys more minutes (10 players averaging over 13 minutes a game) versus Carroll (8 guys averagin over 12 minutes a game).

I'm sure that no one at Hope is overlooking the Pioneers, considering what they just accomplished in the last 2 games.  It's impressive.  I'm just pointing out where I see Hope may have an advantage.

FWIW - look for lots of Orange and Blue on Friday, as both teams share the same colors.

I'm hearing Igor Dunksovernites has been working extra hard to fullfill his community service hours and will allowed to 'try out' next fall.

Sac -

Was doing some investigative work for your new employer and have noticed that after the lunch hour, your posting activity increases significantly until it peaks at about the 4:00pm timeframe.

Wondering if you would like to comment on this prior to me submitting my findings?
