Ziggy:  6'8" kid from NC being recruited by Hope.  That will have to be some sort of historic first if it comes to pass.  Would it be safe to assume this young man has some sort of familial tie with Hope?
Curious.  Does any one know what amount of money NAIA schools have to splash around to get players?

I have no idea, I was just the fly on the wall at the Holiday Inn Express on saturday morning.  :D

No family ties, Glenn just happened to come across a sports score including a center named VanDeBerginksma and figured this was a player bound to play in West Michigan.

I had missed this post earlier on the NCAA's website about THE GAME during Brand's visit. It's a long address that messed up the formatting of this page, so you'll probably have to do some cutting and pasting. Nice picture at the end of it.

I'm sure somebody will have this more exact than I do, but my understanding is that there are two divisions within the NAIA.  D2 is colleges with roughly the equivalent of 4.5 full scholarships to give, while D1 has the equivalent of roughly 9 per team.  It may be something more like 5 and 10, but it's something along those lines.  Does anyone else know more precisely?

split session Friday,  from the UWSP website

Each game will be conducted as a separate session and the facility will be cleared in between games on Friday. All seats for the tournament are reserved.

They're making it easier for more people to see the game they want to see.  I think they deserve credit for their decision.  This decision also allows more UWSP fans to see their team.

We complain if they do split the session and we complain if they do not.

GVW is going down to Wilmington, NC to visit with a 6'8" recruit before the DIII final four.  Glenn is really hoping to land this 4.0 student and president of his FCA group.

Thats all the info I have.

I wonder if that's the same big that Wheaton is after? I know that Wheaton is trying to land a kid from North Carolina, although I'd heard that he was from Charlotte rather than Wilmington. The city in question could be a mistake on the part of my source.

How convenient... Since I am going to be at the Final Four as well, perhaps I could meet up with GVW, and while he's down there he can drop off some cookies from me on behalf of the Wheaton program? :D :D :D

Not off the top of my head, although I'm sure that it's somewhere in that 4.5/5 and 9/10 neighborhood. But it should also be added that NAIA allows schools to split the scholarships. Lots of NAIA programs will split the scholie money across the entire roster, or in 3/4ths and 1/4ths ratios, or whatever.

I'm sure he'd just love to do that for you, April. In fact, why don't you put the cookies in a blue-and-orange container so that GVW is guaranteed to tell the kid that the cookies are from a Wheaton alumna? :D

I was thinking that I could just make sugar cookies with iced blue and orange W's in the middle, but then I realized that he would probably just say that they stood for Wieren.  ::) :D ;)
