A freebee for all the guards out there that are too short to dunk...

An even better shot than "the best dunk ever"

He couldn't possibly have been 90 feet away, that would have meant he was out of bounds...  ;D

That's what the then #7 ranked Augustana said and the #5 ranked Tommies said.  What you can't overlook is that Carroll has a superstar guard who can do everything and is fearless.  Also, you probably haven't seen an offense that moves like this team does.  They run on you, but their half court game is deadly as well.  A lot of cuts without the ball and they set a varity of screens.  Typically 4/5 players on the court will be able to shoot 3's from distance and they can all handle it...heck even one of their bigs (6'7 Ryan Muellner 48% 33/70 3pt) can shoot it.   The one knock on them is down low.  You need to go inside.

With all that being said, they are beatable...but they are playing like a team on a mission and have beaten some very good teams in their last 6 games.  They crushed a good Lawerence team on the road this year while beating Augie and St. Tom on the road as well.

If you check out the massy ratings, they have the 11 toughest schedule in the country.  They have played and seen the best.

OK, apparently we're not allowed to even think that Hope has a chance in this game.  I'm so sick of "don't overlook Carroll".  The mere fact that we are posting our opinion of how we match up shows we're not.

So you wanna talk some smack?  Fine, let's go:   ;D   ;D

A superstar guard, wish we had one of those - oh yeah, we have one. I'll take Cramer over whoever you have, any game, any day.

An offense that moves and can play the half court - geez, why didn't we think of that. Oh, that's right, we do it too, but with 10 guys who could all start at most dIII schools.

4/5 guys can shoot the 3 - yikes I'm scared.  That's OK, we only have 9 out of 10 that shoot 30% or higher from 3, and as a team we're making them at 42.5%.  WE should be ashamed, we're only tied for 2nd in the country for 3pt %.

What about defense?  No mention of that?  Oh, I see your stats, I wouldn't bring it up either   :D

LOL.... did you read some of the comments on it? They're all arguing whether it's at the end of the game, and whether it's a HS game... I thought that was even funnier than the fact that who ever posted it, wrote a technically inaccurate length.

I wonder if the video is up where he tries to make it again on the local cable channel... and after a few tries... succeeds! :o

I was just making a Civic Center joke really, not trying to estimate length. Going on the assumption the court was 94' (not a given), he was probably 86 or 88 feet away since the baskets don't sit on the end line, but I wasn't trying get picky, just going for the cheap laugh.

I do recall that play making SportsCenter, so it's not like it was unknown and just uncovered for analysis by the YouTube posters.

Just curious for those who got tickets for the Hope game, if anyone asked how many tickets the school got.  I read on the WIAC page that Washington U got something around 850 and I know Carroll got 400.  I'm beginning to think teams "requested" a certain amount and if they sold all of those, they could request more.

As previously posted, Pointer fans can't buy tickets to the first game until the other three schools return tickets and then they go on sale Friday at 8 am.  On the Carroll website, they have until Thursday at noon.  Interesting.  Thoughts?

True, but it is a long walk back to Holland, even if the lake is frozen.  The bus is leaving right after Hope's last game of the weekend.

It is $85 per person for tickets for Friday and if needed, Saturday, round trip transportation, and lodging on Friday night.  They will be staying Friday regardless of the outcome.

Which one is it?  ??? ;D

I just  wanted to let everybody know that I am still alive and how glorious it is to be back on this distinguished board.  Has anyone seen the troubles and lies goign through my old stomping grounds.  The same people who shut ashabi down has been lying about numbers to get more donations.  Tisk, Tisk, Tisk.

Good Luck to the MIAA teams although I have been reading bs from both sides all year long hahahaha about the best dunk in MIAA history which already belongs to Pat Moultrie alley oop style and about the vaunted holyists from Calvin causing a stir up in dutch land... What has this world come too?  Administrators lying and now bad sportsmanship?

Truly Yours,

Gregg Ashabi

p.s. Apparently Chris Webber has commited perjury to a grand jury.... I bet he never shows his face in public again in Michigan.

RiponRed34

Wow, first of all, their NOT my team.

Secondly, Great, take UR guy...you have no choice.

Thirdly, Stats can be deceiving...you wanna talk smack ok then:

Take a look at the Massey Ratings.  Hope had the 64th hardest schedule in the country.  Carroll currently has the 11th hardest schedule.  Pretty much everyone in the MWC had a harder schedule then Hope did (Expect Knox).  They played against better competition according to Massey.

Carroll has played: Wisconsin, UW-SP, Carthage, UW-Whitewater, Augustana, St. Thomas, Grinnell(2), Ripon(3), Lawerence(2) Lake Forest(2)

I look at common apponent.  Carthage:

CC 75  Carthage 67   Three days later...Carthage 71  Hope 65

Hope lost to Wheaton, a team that Augustana beat twice...the same team Carroll just beat on their home floor.

So keep throwing great stats at me cause I'll show you some results.  Hope deserves to be the favorite, but that same attitude you just displayed is the same reason we remind you to not sell Carroll short.

gregg ashabi

Hey Rip Tide Red this is an MIAA board.  Go back to your home.  Nobody cares what you think and I can't believe I'm defending Hope but they have been to the tournament repeatedly and had success.  You give meaningless stats like "Because the Detroit Lions beat the Cowboys this year they should have been a playoff team and probably would have beat the Seahawks if it weren't for a botched snap."  Great reasoning Red Eye  There you go Dutchies anything can happen.  I will probably be crusified for defending you.

-K from me. I like to have a welcoming board, especially from informed followers of the game who are willing to venture an opinion, and can bring some perspective from another league. It's a board ABOUT the MIAA; not a board limited to people whose allegiances are to MIAA schools. So - a +K to RiponRed.
