Sac;  You sort of nailed that one on the GR Press doing poor research.  Doing some quick cross referencing and it appears a number of both Hope and Calvin players were on 4 tournament teams.  If one goes to sports other than men's basketball quite a few more individuals have appeared in 4 or more tournaments

Quick is right..............maybe the writer meant THIS millenium. ;)

Josh would be the first to play in 4 straight MIAA Tournaments AND NCAA Tournaments for Calvin.  But since you don't qualify for the MIAA tournament and your in no matter what  I hardly think thats any amazing accomplishment.

Thanks!  I knew you all could enlighten me!

In the same vein of this discussion, it was discussed earlier that Steve Cramer is the first person to play in 14 Hope/Calvin games.  Actually it's a tie.  Both Cramer and Scott Richardson have played in all 14 Hope/Calvin games the last 4 years.

For Calvin

Steve Honderd
Chris Knoester

Question mark from 92
Mark Lefabre (Is that name right? :-[)

Question marks from 93 class
Mark Hofman, Mark Lodewyk, Tom Broene

Questions from 94 class
Steve Scholler, Ryan Stevens, Matt Rottman, Rob Orange

Question from 95
Brian Thwaites

For Hope
Joel Holstege

Question mark
Dave Muhlenberg----he had another injury season but I can't remember what year it was, he may have missed another tournment.  As mentioned technically he did play in a game in 98 with 2 FT's and a broken foot.

Its an elite club for sure, maybe  a Calvin poster could fill in the 92 class for me.

Caleb Veldhouse of course already has 9 and barring injury is now virtually certain of playing in 13, given the last couple years I think he'll have a great chance to break that record.

As would Jesse Reimink of Hope, also with 9 Hope/Calvin games.

......and of course this years Fr are on pace for 20 :o ;)

Also, losing at home to anybody is never acceptable when your as good as 5th in the country.  I realize Wheaton is a good opponet, but they finished 3rd in a very good conference that got only one bid.

Didnt WSP lose at home this year by 17

My point exactly

According to ripon it is unacceptable to lose a home game and be ranked high!

SKOT

The only team in the current top 10 to successfully defend their home court this year was Washington U.  That makes 90% of the top 10 "unacceptable"...

Its an elite club for sure, maybe  a Calvin poster could fill in the 92 class for me.

It was Mike Lefabre--my memory was of him was in the National Championship game in '92, Calvin up by a handful and he gets hammered, has to be helped off the court, and the crowd seems worried about whether Calvin can hold it together.  As the game gets a little tighter, Lefabre eventually comes back from the locker room, and the crowd cheers, the momentum shifts again, and Calvin closes out the Natiaonal Champiosnhip.  Good times, Good times.

And I think Thwaites was a (gasp) transfer--from an Ivy League school. I think...memory gets hazy...

Actually, it was Mike Lefebre -- and those were very good times, indeed.
And Twaites was a transfer from, as I recall, Cornell.

GK is right on the spelling of Mike LeFebre. I believe Mike still holds Calvin's all time three point shooting percentage record for a single season--I think at 57%.

GK is also right on Thwaites coming from Cornell. One more correct answer and GK has a trifecta! ;)

I guess that is why he is the goodknight and you are the oldknight ;)

OK guys....

Let me explain my statement...

It's "unacceptable" to lose at home, but it doesn't mean you're a bad team.  Losing to a non conference opponent is never "acceptable," especially when your as good as Hope is.

GEEZ

Some of you guys are a bit jumpy!

I think the goal of every good team is to go undefeated at home.
