According to the official attendance, not even the lowest for the night. I believe they listed 550 at St. John Fisher for Wooster/Brockport.
To add to the attendance thing, Wooster fans actually outdrew Brockport State fans in that game and the B'port fans were only 20 minutes away from Fisher compared to the 5 hours + Wooster fans had to travel!

Can someone explain to me what exactly is the harm about mentioning possible recruits and new players.  No one is here is going to have any type of sway over the decisions of these young men and it is debatable if said recruits ever see this board anyways.  By taking a strict no discussion stance it removes a lot of the fun of the off-season, that is what keeps many fans going in the off-season.  Sometimes it is nice to know who will or might be coming.  It gives everyone some hope (hate using that word as a Calvin Grad) in the off season.  Until I am informed of the logical reason behind many of the posters stance on this board it seems kind of a holier-than-thou attitude, like being in an exclusive club and letting people know that you have inside information but right now it is "classified".  No one on this board is THAT important, if you know about it chances are many others have a sniff of said info as well.

Anyways, enough of my rant, I'm sure my karma will take a major nose-dive for sharing these thoughts.  I'm just curious why people are so cryptic about this type of info.

Okay, I'll give it a shot for you:

A)  It's never nice to come in as the new kid on the block and start ranting. (Helpful hint #1)

B)  Loose lips have indeed sunk (recruit) ships.  You'd be amazed (really and truly amazed) at the number of lurkers around here -- recruits, players, parents, coaches, faculty, etc.  Trust me.

C)  Once a recruit indicates that he's looking at schools A, B, and C, then it's fair game to talk about it.  Until then, protocol suggests that you leave it alone.  It's kind of a respect thing.

D)  Yes, sometimes we (the posters in this thread) make hints and inuendo about a lot of things (Jabudi!).  Don't feel left out.  Many of us know each other IRL, and have gotten to be friends over the years.  Friends tease, berate, and egg each other on.  Sometimes we hint at knowing things -- most of the time it's BS.   ;D  Hang around a while longer, don't get too uptight, and you'll find yourself fitting in in no time.

E)  We're a friendly bunch.  Don't think so?  Try hanging out in an unmoderated newsgroup sometime.  If this kind of stuff upsets you, you'd turn pale at what happens there.  Welcome to "Let's Talk MIAA."  We welcome all newcomers.  Make yourself at home.  But don't put your feet on the brand new coffee table until you've been around a little while longer!   ;)

Civic,  thank you for your response  :).  Also if I might politely add, just because some people don't have many posts doesn't necessarily mean that they are newbies to this board.  Myself, I have been reading and religiously following this board since 1999, that is over eight years.  So just because I finally decided to post doesn't mean that I am unfamiliar with the goings on in here, from past history I knew my post would be met by a decline in my karma rating (which I'm not too concerened about ::)) and possible criticsim.  From years of reading I finally became frustrated enough to write about the shielding of legitimate information concerning the off-season happenings of calvin and hope.  Unfortunetly I do not live in G.R. anymore and thus this board is one of the only ways to "stay in the loop" of what is going on basketball wise around Calvin, Hope and the rest of the MIAA, so it is nice to hear some info occasionly to feel connected to all of the G.R. and Holland inside fans.

I really do enjoy reading and keeping up-to-date with this board and only share my thoughts because it is so hard to stay connected once life circumstances have taken me or others away from West Michigan.

Thank you to everyone for your posts, contributions, information and game analysises.  Those outside West Michigan do appreciate it. 8)

Even after watching them win 2 games (and yes, being beaten by them in one of those), I wouldn't bet any money on them winning it all.  Hope could have handled them on most nights (but for whatever reason did not/could not Saturday).  Their post player really wasn't all that impressive, and quite often shied away from contact rather than taking it to the hoop.  They're a solid team, but I would be surprised if they manage to get past V.Wes.  JMHO.

Civic  -  woud respectfully disagree with your comment regarding Wash U's post player - Troy Ruths is one of the stronger more aggressive post players  I've seen at the D3 level.  Hope did a great job swarming him and making him get rid of the ball before he could do much offensively - which contributed greatly to Wash U guard Sean Wallis having the big numbers he had in the game.  Note too that he played 38 minutes on Friday night and 36 on Saturday - a huge effort for a guy who has to be so active around the basket for Wash U to win

Now them - is he as strong as Matt Neil or Dan Gustad...??  well, maybe not :D
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I actually thought that Richardson for Hope did a pretty good job on him one on one.  No doubt Hope did double down on him as well, but I thougth they also did well when not doubling.  I would agree that he was probably pretty tired in the second half as well, that's a lot of minutes.

Derek Griffin was in a similar role this year as Caleb was last year.  Next year he will get a lot more attention from opposing teams.

To quote one of the Calvin players before the season started: "Teams will focus on Caleb and then Derek will just score, score, score."

- Another classic road sign - "Watch for Crop Duster" - like what am I supposed to do, duck?

The best sign in Michigan is "Prison Area, Do Not Pick Up Hitchhikers"...so, what do my friends and I do?  Stop and get a picture next to the sign...we didn't see any hitchhikers and we made the photo op pretty quickly! lol

Hope everyone enjoys four of the most glorious days in a college basketball fans year.  I am already home for the day (2:15pm) and don't have plans to be at work tomorrow past noon.

Enjoy the weekend and go MSU!!!!!!

Cramer deserves many of the compliments he has gotten.  However, it sort of surprises me that some Hope fans seem to quickly dismiss the efforts of other team members.  In one game I heard last week Marcus V H took matters into his own hands, and his efforts had a tremendous impact on the games outcome.   :)

You're right that MVH had a huge impact on that game.  I for one, do not discount the efforts of any of the Hope players, and I don't necessarily interpret what others are saying as "dismissing the efforts" of the rest of the team.  Cramer just had such an amazing run at the end of the season, and finished a tremendous career, that the discussion has naturally centered around him.  Hope got to where they did through an amazing team chemistry between 10 guys.

This definitely is the best basketball weekend of the year. I'll be going to my fourth Salem weekend and combining week 1 of D1 with week 3 of D3 is always a blast. Let's hope the team I'm rooting for doesn't go 1-1 on the weekend like the past three trips.

I disagree on the last point though, Go Bl... ah who am I kidding? Go Away Amaker!
