Who remembers when the Big East played their conference season with 6 fouls as an experiment?

Ugh. I still have nightmares because of it. :)

NW Hope Fan

Growing up in NY and a Orangemen fan, the Big East could always use the 6 foul issue when competing against other national schools in the NCAA tournament (and losing) . But didn't Georgetown win their championship in that era? What were they thinking???

I think the SEC played with that for a while as well...

SBell

I'm not exactly sure where John Mantel is listed as a remaining power forward, as here is the list of unsigned Michgian seniors:

Albion just got a good guard from Shepherd, Tyler McGuire. He and Carter are both "plus athletes" for the MIAA level.

sbell---when I log onto your site the main story is different everytime, one time it was a list of last years unsigned Sr's.......completely random.  I don't get it, thought it was funny at the time.

I was just at a restaurant with a friend and she commented on the Heinz ketchup bottle on the table and I just about died laughing. I tried to explain why it was funny and definitely failed. :D

But I know you guys understand... ;)

About as quiet as normal on  potential Calvin recruits.  One or two kids Calvin looked at are going elsewhere, but that is also typical.   No word yet on anyone possibly coming from out of state.
Just curious.  The 6' 9" Puls from Alpena on "SBells's" list.  Is he in any way related to the 6' 11" kid on Hope's jv's?

I believe that would be the younger brother of Brian, the Hope JV player.

It would indeed.  They also have an older brother who pitches for Eastern, and a younger one still who is on the Alpena JV basketball team.  They're all tall.

For the January Hope/Calvin game at Calvin I was pretty ecstatic to get  seats at about midcourt halfway up the upper section, pretty darn good for the regular season game I'd say.

Right about tipoff time Eric and Brian both sat right in front of me along with the younger brother and mom.  I had a sore neck for a week trying to see over those 3.  They are indeed tall. :D ;)

From my stalkin......I mean surfing around for info on Hope recruits I came across this little tidbit from the Detroit News.....

Coach of the year

Mark Bray, Utica Ford: In his third season, he guided the Falcons to the Macomb Area Conference White Division title and a Class A district championship. "We win because we have a talented group of student-athletes who love each other," he said. "They understand that success starts in the classroom. They really strive to do their best, and it carries over from the classroom, to the hallways, to the court, and ultimately throughout their lives."

Mark played for Hope from 1997 to 2000

Other states seem to make this work. I'm sure Michigan can figure it out.

Pat: I realize this is the offseason and we have extra time on their hands right now but believe me, you don't want MIAA posters debating this issue on your board. ::)
