Mr. Ypsi

sac,

Nothing wrong with LSSU that couldn't be cured by moving b'ball season to July-September!

Well... it IS still in the Soo. :P

Re: the MHSAA lost lawsuit (this is NOT intended to goad a debate, so please save the dead horse or smites - but just too delicious to pass up):

Kele Eveland (East Kentwood volleyball player) was the 'poster girl' for the lawsuit after a U of M coach told her she wouldn't get a scholarship because she didn't play as much club volleyball as girls in other states.  While not THE reason for the suit, she was the spark (and her parents were cofounders of Communities for Equity, the plaintiffs in the suit).  As her mother said: "It was one little piece of the case.  But it was a pivotal point.  It showed how it affected a kid."

But did it?  Or does it give insight as to why UM's all-time Big Ten record in volleyball is .349?

Ms. Eveland received a full-ride to Georgia Tech, became a two-time All-American, had her jersey retired, and is now playing professionally!

I am agnostic on the decision, seeing merit on both sides.  But the spark that set the whole thing ablaze seems to show far more the incompetence of UM volleyball than harm to a female athlete!

How familiar is anyone on this board with the IBL franchises in Holland and Grand Rapids?  Is that something you follow?  I ask because just today I was made aware of a team in Elgin (suburbs of Chicago) that has a team featuring three very recent CCIW alums, so I looked at the league's website to see if I could find any others.  On Holland's team there is a Mike VanHekken whose picture on the website looks like he's in a Hope uniform cutting down a net.  Are there any MIAA guys playing in this league?

Oh yeah, apparently 7'9" Sun Ming Ming from China has signed with the Grand Rapids franchise!

And to tie a bunch of topics all together and put a bow on it, wasn't Steve Hettinga the coach of the GR IBL team?  Or is he still?  He is a Michigan boy, having graduated from River Valley HS in the bustling metropolis of Three Oaks, MI (my hometown and alma mater).   ;D  So maybe there's some home state loyalty bringing him back as well  (although mileage-wise, he's probably further away from "home" at LSSU).
2014 MIAA Pick 'Em Champion  :)

If you see the front page of D3hoops you'll see that 8 players were invited to the CBI event. I am sure they are all quite deserving but it is too bad Cramer won't get the chance to go because I am sure he is the equal of them all.
Tribes of primitve hunters, with rhinestone codpieces rampant, should build pyramids of Chevy engines covered in butterscotch syrup to exalt the diastolic, ineffable, scintillated and cacophonous salamander of truth which slimes and distracts from each and every orifice of your holy refrigerator.

For those interested, the March 30th issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education ran a brief story on Hope's new mascot, replete with a large photo, and a photo of Bob Bos who works in the mailroom and on whom, evidently. Dutch is modeled. Not available online, so far as I know.

Hahahahahaha, if anyone knows Bobish you know that's pretty funny!

I was at the GR Lightning came Friday to see the 7'9" guy.  Our favorite ref, Geerlings, was reffin.

Can he move?  (the 7'9" guy, not the ref)

From all the posts about Geerlings, the correct question would seem to be: WOULD he (please!) move? ;)
