Nice Pat, real nice.  I'll bet you're really proud of that post.

No, frankly, I'm really pissed off that I had to make it.

You guys should be careful.  Saying such things can get you negative karma!

Oh, no!!  Not negative karma!!  How will life go on??   :'(

I think FDF was referring to your use of the F word.  I have not seen it used on the MIAA page.  You weren't forced to use it.  You chose to.

Thanks. I read the post when I made it so I am aware of what I said.

The wording used should be an indication of my feelings on the subject.

You feel classless on the subject?
You feel juvenile on the subject?
You feel uneducated on the subject?

No one is above criticism in an open forum.  I'm sorry you feel badly that others don't exhalt the HOF label like you do.  I appreciate what this site and it's top contributors has done for the DIII game and its fans but everyone who participates in this community is an important part, whether 1 post or 1,000,000, bench warmer or Hall of Famer.

You are right on.  I am in favor of removing all the titles (HOF, All American, Starter.)

Pat Coleman

I feel angry. But thanks for attempting to characterize my feelings. I'm sorry my feelings don't match with your reading of them.

If my reaction upsets you, then we're both in the same boat. We're both upset.

I don't mind the titles because it gives new people an understanding of who has been around.  The HOFers are generally very well educated about the DIII game and usually give good insight on these boards.  I don't like it when the titles are paraded around with the "Do you know who I am? I am a D3sports.com Hall of Famer!" attitude.  I wont have a pity party for X HOFer who is losing karma, or Y HOFer who has hurt feelings and left the board.  We all have opinions, not everyone shares in our opinions.  Don't come in here and dish out opinions if you can't sit back and take the debate or criticism it brings.

We should have our own time slot on the reality channel.  8)

April's departure has been in the works for a long, long time.  A number of us had to convince her to come back last fall and still be apart of all of this.  No one, and I mean no one saw more games or teams in D3 during her time in Chicago at Wheaton College.  Since moving to Cali its been difficult for her to see games and continue to have sensible dialogue with people who appreciated her opinion.   In other words people used her distance as an excuse to dismiss her opinion, and it hasn't been just one post, its been pretty darn constant.  Virtually everything she's said has been challenged by someone at sometime, in a number of rooms.   So it isn't just this room, but I have been disappointed by some things said to her and about her from this group.

April flew halfway across the country just to see a weekend of basketball games with teams she had no rooting interest in, just to see them because she loved watching D3 basketball.  I doubt many people in here, including myself would ever do that.  To see her opinions repeatedly trampled on over the past few months for pretty juvenile reasons has been difficult to see as a friend.  I simply can't blame her for not wanting to be apart of this site anymore.  Its nowhere near as fun and entertaining as it used to be.  The whole board not just here.

I think a number of people on here, would become better posters and contributors if they went out and met some of the other posters.  Put a face with a handle etc.  Changes your approach to the forum considerably.

As for the lovely karma discussions.

Don't care, never have.  Give your buds all your love.........but for the life of me please explain the desire to log on every day, like clockwork, after your 24 hours has passed just to ding someone's karma.   Do you write it down in your daily planner?  Do you kick your feet up afterward and smoke a cigar and pat yourself on the back and say "well done skippy".  I don't get it.  I hear people tell me it doesn't matter, yet they still smite people repeatedly and seem to go out of their way to do it.   This is one of the many ways this particular room is no longer friendly to new posters........or old ones for that matter.

Hope1 is down to -40, about 60 of that in the last 2 months, and I garuntee you, if you met him and his family, you would feel like the business end of a donkey for doing it.  Whats the point? power? control? superiorty? inferiority complex?

Pat, I'm begging, even though it won't happen, disable the karma function, its ridiculous how grown adults, well educated at that, can't handle it.

Smite away, applaud away, could care less..........I'm off to smooth out the old putting stoke, try and get the back loose and healthy again and try and catch up on 17 years of sleep deprevation.

When's the Holland summer league kick into action?

I don't think we'll disable it but I have been actively looking for ways to make people responsible for the closet smiting.

I thought we had a plug-in that would work, and changed the FAQ to reflect it, but it failed. This summer is another chance to find something.

I wonder if any smiter will be brave enough to come out of the closet.

Will he/she be able to find acceptance in the d3hoops community at large?  ;D
