I doubt if many NFL players ever lost more Superbowl games than that.

No Lions.  ;)  With free agency now, there might be 1 or 2 we might not realize.  I bet there are a few Vikings who lost 4 SB's in an 8 year span.  The only other team to lose 4 is the Broncos but with a 14 year time span its doubtfull they have any.   Mecklenberg maybe?, that guy was there forever.  I can't remember when Tom Jackson retired, he may have made all 4 of those games also.

As for Metzelaars, Wabash beat Hope in the Sweet 16 82-70.  Wabash went on to win the National Championship and I believe Metzelaars was the MVP.

I believe Metzelaars played his last two seasons in Detroit. Since he went 0-4 in Superbowls I guess ending his career as a Lion is more than appropriate. On the other hand he actually played in a Superbowl (as opposed to merely hosting one) so that fact should have made him ineligible to be on Bill Ford's roster. ::)

Metzelaars had a long and solid NFL career, and played in 4 Superbowls with Buffalo, losing every time. I doubt if many NFL players ever lost more Superbowl games than that.

Hmm, Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas... Not Norwood though... J/k oldknight.

Didn't Metzelaars shoot something like 78% from the field in that final four?  45 pts in on e of the games?  Smokin Joe loves Pete, fellow Little Giants, of course.

Don Beebe Lost 5 of the 6 Superbowls he played in (1990-1993 Buffalo Bills, 1997 Green Bay Packers won in 1996 with Green Bay)

Cornelius Bennett lost all 5 Superbowls he played in (1990-1993 Buffalo Bills, 1998 Atlanta Falcons)

Thats all I know off the top of my head there may be more 5+ SB losers.

FDF:  You apparently don't get on the Knollcrest campus often enough during the summer or daylight hours! ;)
?  During the Lions/Bengals game last night I heard the annoucers say something about a Bengals player from UW-La Cross.  Did anyone else hear this?

No... But they do have 5 guys named Johnson on their roster!

Former UW-LaCrosse running back Ryan Englebert had gotten an invitation to the Bengals' camp earlier this year but he is no longer on their roster. The Lions do have a former UW-Stout CB on their roster (Tony Beckham) and he did get some playing time in Thursday night's game--made a nice play on the ball late in the game too. Beckaham has experience having played three years with the Titans and spent some time with the Vikings too before getting cut. Detroit signed Beckham to a one year contract this spring. With the Lions' problems in the secondary he has a good shot at making the team if he shows that he can be an effective special teams' player.
