Scott Pederson (sp?) a former Glen Assistant, went on to GVSU (for a masters) and was one of Terry's assistants.

Anyone know what happened to him? Is he coaching somewhere?

There was a Scott Peterson--a grad of Grand Rapids Union High School--who played the point for Hope in the 1970's. I don't remember him being a Hope assistant (or at GVSU either) but considering the ridiculous number of coaches the Flying Dutch carry every year that would be too much to ask of an OldKnight anyway. You can't tell the coaches without a lengthy scorecard in Holland.

Wasn't he the one who wore the blue blazer and the khaki pants?

That would narrow it down, wouldn't it? ::)

Scott Pederson retired from coaching a few years back to concentrate on his Edward Jones business, but still can be seen lighting it up in Holland Twp. Thursday night leagues...

Quite the lively debate going on in the m-live forums:

http://www.mlive.com/forums/whac/index.ssf

Seems that one local WHAC school has their own "beergate" complete with suspensions, kickings off the team, etc.

Even one poster goes so far as to suggest that a few are thinking about enrolling in MIAA schools...

Anybody else heard any other insight?

dv:  What you heard is quite true, and CU is the school.   Heard one of their players (not involved in the incident) talking about the suspensions, and possible dismissal from the team.  The players will not be back before the Bamk Classic.   CU has a zero tolerance policy towards booze.  Even before this incident CU was not expecting the greatest year.  One of the conditions to getting a CU scholarship is agreeing not to drink.

Randall Floyd, you're in need of a serious attitude adjustment, young man. You better get your priorities straight.  I want that piece of paper on my desk before you leave here today! Do you hear me?

If I hadn't been wide awake at 2am this past Saturday night and flipped on Starz Comedy.........that quote wouldn't be as funny as it is to me now.

Wow.  Wouldn't mind seeing a couple of those guys try and play at Calvin, if the lists on MLive are correct.  Some talented kids.

CU's alcohol policies are, to me, archaic and unrealistic for the players of legal age.

Well, I think I would mind if they made their way to Calvin. Having alcohol policies for all athletes is hardly unique to Cornerstone. They may deserve another chance but if these kids can't stay eligible at Cornerstone I don't know why Calvin or any other MIAA school would be eager to embrace them. Part of the problem in evaluating this is that we don't know how many chances they were given at Cornerstone. The objections I hear about that program isn't so much about "archaic and unrealistic" policies; instead the complaints I hear is over apparent double standards some see at that institution. That school's basketball program has burned more than one bridge with local high schools for finding ways to pull scholarships from players when another, more talented athlete expresses a desire to play hoops there. Loyalty to athletes at CU isn't seen as a high priority by several west Michigan school coaches. I know of at least one who actively steers his kids away from that school.

Have now also heard that confirmed from someone else, but that he is not eligible to play for Hope until the 08-09 season.

Is this this the Snikkers who played at Unity Christian?

and, why would he not be eligible?

In order asked:

1) Yes

2) He left Cornerstone after an alcohol related violation. I've been reliably informed that prior to enrollment at Hope, Snikkers was told he would have to serve the same suspension at Hope that he would have served if he stayed at CU. I'm not sure about the length of that suspension because I've heard everything from 10 games to a full year.
