I would have gone with Three-State myself  ;)  Thats going to take some getting used to.  Is it just me or is it awkward to even say?

Perhaps you could simply split the difference and call it "Trine State". ;)

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

That's why I used "tryin'" in the headline. I figured it was a pronunciation aid. :)

Alphabetically, they barely move, though they do pass the Trinitys - anyone I forgot?

I was fishing up north this summer and the trine were really biting. ::) ;D

Maybe we could help them think up some new cheers.

The tennis teams could always use:

"We will serve no Trine before it's time"

or the third stringers might be saying:

"I road the pine at Trine"

Does this also mean they need a new mascot?

Speaking of Mercy - it looks like Hope (and Albion) will both be getting some "exhibition" experience against a DI school

:)  Your really have to hand it to the Trine family.  I mean we all know about getting dorms, gyms, and other campus buildings etc. named after you.  The big money people in Holland, Grand Rapids, and Ada etc. never went as far as getting the entire college named after them.  Wonder what the "naming rights" for a University are going for these days? ;D

Maybe President Byker can look in the archives and tell us what John Calvin paid. ;)

I guess U-D wanted no part of Grand Valley anymore, after losing last year. Calihan would be a cool place to play, should be fun.

Neither Ralph Trine nor the university will reveal the amount of the gift. However, Tri-State is in the midst of a $90,000,000 capital campaign, and the school hasn't announced yet that the goal has been met, so my guess is that the gift is smaller than 90M.

The only parallel I can remember in the D3 ranks within the last few years was when Henry Rowan gave $100,000,000 to Glassboro State College in '92 and the college was renamed Rowan University in his honor five years later.

I thus suspect that different schools have different price tags when it comes to naming rights.

Calihan is a great place to watch a game. I've been to a few UDM/Butler games back in the days of Willie Green, Rashad Philips and Jermaine Jackson.  That place would be pretty full. Great atmosphere.

Kzoo is finally on campus, practice starts in just over 2 weeks.  K lost about 30 seniors, and has a nice fresh class coming in (kudos to RP for hitting the Lansing area pretty hard). I'm looking forward to seeing how these young Hornets adjust to college basketball.

Weekend to watch: December 15, 16th.  The Hornets travel to Smokin' Joe Haklin's Marian College in Indianapolis for their tournament.  I think a few alumns will be making they trip to Indy.

I believe the Marian tournament is the 14th and 15th.
