Im not sure if calvin has finalized their roster either, but i have been hearing some pretty promising things about junior captain Tim Katt.  His work ethic over the summer was second to none.  Whether it was weights or cardio work I heard coach VS was very impressed.  He is not the greatest offensive weapon calvin has but i admire his dedication and hard work.  Good luck to the knights this year.

He has some nice experience too.  He played a ton of minutes in Hope vs Calvin III at Hope last season.  Not so much in other games, but KVS must like how he matched up with Hope.  Good leadership...

Calvin's roster has been posted.  I agree that Katt should be a very strong player this year.

It's my understanding that Hop'e roster has not been finalized. There are 3 players that are going to tryout for the next few days, with 1 or 2 being cut.  a returner from last year-greenan, a jv'er-bosch, and a late comer-canan.  4 frosh made the roster, as expected.

Thanks for the latest and greatest!  Auuuggggghhhhh  the wait is killing me!

This time of the year reminds me of my family vacation trips with me asking my dad, "Are we there yet???!!!"

WK:  6'7", and 185 lbs Vanderzee isn't exactly the type of muscle that is going to overpower many MIAA players except possibly our own guys like Engelsma, and Schuster.   While I like the idea of a bruiser inside myself if the guy isn't an offsensive threat it makes it too easy for other teams to fade off defending them.  I did notice that Mantel is listed at 245.  It will be interesting to see if this added bulk helps Calvin's inside game.

I feel Todd Koetsier could also play a big role for the knights this year.  He is finally healthy and seems to be motivated.  Todd has been down the last couple of years with all his injuries but it seems that this year he is ready to go.  Todd is in really good shape due to his hard training over the summer and his focus.  I expect a lot from him this year and i think he is very important to Calvin's success.

Does anyone know if Micah Chappell tried out for the team?

HopeConvert

According to Hope's website, Reimink, Klein, and VanderHeide are this year's captains. It's intriguing who isn't.

I noticed that as well and had the same thought. Interesting but not shocking, I suppose.

Also welcome out of your hibernation HopeConvert.

SWTK:  Calvin will be better this year if your comments regarding Koetsier are accurate.  If memory serves correct he came in with a great deal of promise, but the injuries have really hurt his contribution.   Let's hope he stays healthy, and plays to his original expectations. :)
Sac:  imho  :) Calvin having some off years from 96 to 98 takes nothing away from the great teams Hope had during that era.  The point remains it will take 4 years before we know if the fr. at Hope this fall can meet or exceed what the Hope class of 98 accomplished.
As much as I would like to see it I seriously doubt Calvin will ever duplicate what happened during the Honderd years.  Holding any incoming class to that standard isn't fair.

True.  All I had heard was they possibly had a very talented big man from Cali coming in, and he had been among the top recruiting priorities.  I'd take a frail guy if he's talented enough to hang.

I also notice the Hope website has their Home record in DeVos incorrect. :-[

...not to mention a spelling boo-boo of their favorite opponent's name:

The Flying Dutchmen have started their pre-season preparations. The first games of the season will be the Hall of Fame Classic on Novemver 23-24 featuring Aquinas, Clavin, host Cornerstone and the Flying Dutchmen.
