...not to mention a spelling boo-boo of their favorite opponent's name:

The Flying Dutchmen have started their pre-season preparations. The first games of the season will be the Hall of Fame Classic on Novemver 23-24 featuring Aquinas, Clavin, host Cornerstone and the Flying Dutchmen.

I heard Cliff has got game.  ;D

SWTK:  Calvin will be better this year if your comments regarding Koetsier are accurate.  If memory serves correct he came in with a great deal of promise, but the injuries have really hurt his contribution.   Let's hope he stays healthy, and plays to his original expectations. :)
Sac:  imho  :) Calvin having some off years from 96 to 98 takes nothing away from the great teams Hope had during that era.  The point remains it will take 4 years before we know if the fr. at Hope this fall can meet or exceed what the Hope class of 98 accomplished.
As much as I would like to see it I seriously doubt Calvin will ever duplicate what happened during the Honderd years.  Holding any incoming class to that standard isn't fair.

So it appears that we'll need to wait for the full-presentation of the freshmen as the injury bug has hit Hope again: Sharples out for a month with shoulder injury.

I also heard that both Canan and Bosch have looked good at practice. Anybody there who can confirm?

Not again! >:( Honestly, what does Hope do in practices that someone gets hurt every single year before the first game? ??? Argh. Well if the projection of a month is correct that still puts Sharples back in practices right about the time of Hope's first game so it could be worse.

canan and bosch have looked good enough to prolong the official roster announement. They are trying out for a second week, along with one other, with 1 or 2 of the 3 getting the axe.  Both bring experience and strength because they are well... strong physically, but they are older.  Canan is supposed to be a senior academically.  Where they fit into the playing rotation remains to be seen but there probably won't be many minutes to go around.  Having them to practice with/against will definitely be a bonus.

Does anyone know if Josh Jorkasky is back at hope.  I know he transferred from Michigan Tech, I think, and had been recovering from ACL or something.  He had showed a lot of promise in high school.  Just wondering what happened.

Not sure if he's currently enrolled, but I do recall hearing about another knee/leg/something injury/surgery last spring, which was going to most likely keep him out of action for over a full year. But I defer to someone with closer knowledge.

I don't believe I saw him at practice at all, so the injury report may be true

Alma has their roster up

An extremely young team with 3 juniors and a single senior.  I guess that's not surprising with a new coach.

I see "Brady" is on the rosters.  He must be like Nene.

According to Lee Lambert's blog at the Holland Sentinel, he expects to have a roster for Hope up tonight.  We'll see...  I'm as anxious as anyone to see the final list, but not so anxious to find out who had to be left behind.  :-\

In Lambert's last blog post he had 14 names and they sound very reasonable based on what have seen in the past and now about the freshmen. The one name he didn't include was Sharples. I wonder if GVW might leave the roster at 14 so Sharples can play when he is healthy, of course that assumes Sharples showed enough in the week or so of practice he had.
