I'm really surprised by that coaches poll.

I agree.  Biggest surprises for me are that Tri-State is 3rd and Adrian 5th.  I see  Hope/Calvin as a tie at the top.

I am not sure if there are other possible vote combinations but based on the results of the coaches poll here are the vote break downs

Hope: 5 first, 1 second, 1 third
Calvin: 3 first, 4 second
Tri-State: 2 second, 1 third, 4 fourth
Albion: 1 second, 3 third, 1 fourth, 2 fifth
Adrian: 3 third, 3 fourth, 1 fifth
Kalamazoo: 4 fifth, 3 sixth
Olivet: 1 fifth, 5 sixth, 1 seventh
Alma: 7 seventh

I would be fascinated to know who picked Hope to finish third! ??? ??? ??? I mean someone had to pick either Trine-State or Albion to finish above Hope??? I don't get it. I doubt it was KVS I think he has too much mutual respect for GVW and his program so my guess is Mike Turner (Albion). Unless someone else has it out for Hope.

KVS could not have voted Hope #3.  He can't vote for Calvin and no one else got a 1st place vote.

I forgot to even consider it that way. So now there is proof to my theory that Hope could not have been voted 3 by KVS. That leaves Turner or maybe the Tri-State coach....probably Turner.

Trying to figure out who voted who where is kind of pointless.  Your purely speculating about Turner and thats not right.

The only fact is you can't vote for yourselves, so yes KVS voted Hope 1 and GVW voted Calvin 1.  After that its a guess and really not worth the time.  The chances that the Alma coach, Kzo coach, Olivet coach, Tsu coach, Adrian coach or Albion coach voted Hope 3 is equal.

Being voted #3 doesn't bother me at all, being voted #1 5 times does.

A reminder that Albion scrimmages Detroit Mercy tommorrow night in Callahan Hall, I believe admission is 10 or 12 bucks.  Hope will be there Tuesday night, also 10 or 12 bucks.

Nothing like a Friday night in Detroit I always say. :-\

Trine couldn't have gotten 2 votes for second place--not as long as Calvin got no vote lower than second and Hope only got one vote for third. It seems to me that whichever coach gave Hope the third place vote gave Trine the no. 2 slot. Every other voter had Calvin-Hope first and second, or vice versa.

SAC - Don't get too ruffled about this issue, rumor has it that there's already a new CSI on the case, it's called "CSI-MIAA Coach Voting." You can see it on your local CBS TV station.  :)

Are you sandbagging SAC?

Hope is loaded and are in the position they should be in: Picked to win the MIAA.

PicknRoll, nice to have you aboard.

The 3,4,5 vote was very close.  One more 3rd vote for Adrian (taking away a 4th vote) and one less for Tri-State (taking from 3rd to 4th) and Adrian and Albion tie for 3rd and TSU is 5th.  That whole thing was so close that any order could easily have happened.

I have also determined that my vote break down from before is not the only possible breakdown.  The only teams who are for sure are: Calvin, Hope, and Alma

Calihan is a great place to watch a basketball game, and the D is a great place to spend a weekend evening.

But eight coaches vote: 1 picked Hope 3rd and KVS and GVW each had to pick a non Calvin/Hope school 3rd. So there are 3 non Calvin/Hope 2nd place votes.

And... was just listening to the local radio station and Western Michigan University is playing Tri-State this evening in exhibition.  First game for both teams and WMU returns ALL players from last year.  Sounds from the interview that the Bronco's are hungry!!

PicknRoll

The Tri-State WMU game shouldn't be much of a contest. I know the hornets tangled with the Broncos in a couple exhibition games, all of which turned out ugly for the most part. This year WMU is a tough team, in every way, which makes for a long night for Tri-State.
