I think they play this morning at 10:00.  Don't have the time yet for next Saturday. Micah Hudson (an '07 Chelsea grad) plays for Lake Superior State.  That would be fun to watch two old teammates play against each other.  I'll get to see that this year with Albion if Stasiak plays.  He played basketball for Saline (one of Chelsea's biggest rivals), but he played on the same travel team with John (Mantel).  He's a hustler and a very good shooter.

Thanks! I think I'll check it out.

Great.  Let us know how they look.  I won't get to see them until their first game.

Watson is a joke because he suspended the only McDonald's All-American in school history?

Watson's a joke because he's frickin shady. How he got out of the Fab 5 fiasco unscathed is beyond me.  Im guessing that if he had his way, Cotton wouldn't be suspended.
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Looks like you don't want to mess with that dude Kemptner.  Yikes!

also looks like this was the team immink played on last year? then it seems he left for a new team (ansbach) but has now left that one, accoring to their page?

what's the scoop, fdf?

But he's hardly gotten away unscathed -- could never get a high-major job when U-D was one of the top mid-majors in the Midwest.

Last we heard from Greg, he was hoping to be playing for them soon (I think he was hoping to be playing again last week, but I'm not sure).  He's had some knee stuff to deal with again, but nothing too serious.  Greg, we know you're reading!   ;)  If things have changed, let us know.  ;D  Not sure why he is listed as "left the team" for Ansbach, but it's been listed that way since the beginning of their season.

Hard to tell without being there of course but score wise, Albion gave a good accounting of themselves tonight.  Detroit 57 Albion 48

Does anyone know why Andrew Holms name was not listed on the boxscore (and for you wisecrackers who respond with "because he didn't play," my main question is why?  Is he injured?)

After GVSU beat MSU friday it makes me very interested in watching the Kzoo - GVSU game. Without looking at the schedule I think they play sometime relatively soon.

What are people's opinion on d3 players going on to play basketball beyond college? I mean don't get me wrong, doing something you love professionally is great, and is ideal for any college graduate. But really, is continuing basketball in one of these third tier leagues in Europe really worth it? I almost feel like its a college kid prolonging his real professional career. No doubt that its a great experience, but what does it really do for you in the long run? I'm not sure how much these guys get paid, but I can't imagine its a huge financial incentive, especially compared to what some of these guys could be doing out of these good colleges. I'm not quite sure what side of the fence I sit on exactly. Theres a part of me that says after school they should just move on, have fun playing at the courthouse, but start working on your real career. But at the same time, I certainly see how going there for a year or two is an oportunity that would be tough to pass up, but I honestly think staying past that is wasting time.

...just a few thoughts.

My opinion is it's not my business.  Let each person determine what is best for them.

Do what you love to do while you can.  You can always start your "career" later but you can't come back to play basketball when you get older.

The Europeans love American players in their leagues.  I'm sure they get paid far better than the semi-pro garbage that is played in the states.  Truth is that basketball is an American game that has become popular over seas.  The Euros love watching the Americans play the American game, even with that goofy trapezoidal lane...

I just graduated college (July of 2007.)  If someone offered me a chance to travel around Europe (or Germany like Cramer and Immink) and do what I love, how could I not take that offer?  And, it would only be a plus of you made some money in the process.

In terms of playing overseas, the leagues differ significantly in the compensation for the players.  Most leagues, if not all, allow only 3 Americans on the roster.  Even if the players aren't making much money, the teams usually give the players a food allowance, housing, and transportation.  The income is tax free as well.

I don't think you can turn down the chance to play overseas.  Being able to enjoy what you are doing for a year or two after graduation would probably be a dream to many ex-players.

Dirk Rhinehart just got cleared to play for his team in Germany.  He had some type of heart problem and was finally cleared.  E-Rock is in the states waiting to hear back from a few 1st Division Teams in the Netherlands and Switzerland.

On the topic of playing overseas, here is a blog that might be of interest.  It is maintained by Illinois Wesleyan grad Zach Freeman ('07), a D3Hoops.com 1st Team All-American last year, chronicling his experiences playing in Germany for Phoenix Hagen...
