sac will be there, unless something has changed

Something has changed, I don't think I'm going to make it to Albion Friday night.

I'm praying there is no way for Hope and Calvin to meet.

Aquinas is going to put an undefeated team on the floor Friday night vs Hope.  They've won 4 close games to start the year, I think thats a tough openor for the Dutchmen.

Cornerstone is rebuilding, they've been a bit more competitive so far than expected but they may be as good as 4-3 or as low as 2-5 coming into the tournament depending on this weekends CU tournament results.

I think I'll be happy if the MIAA splits the MIAA/CCIW challenge. Any thoughts on that?

Considering that I think Hope and Calvin are putting 2 of their best teams on the floor in the 4th year of this arrangement 4-0 needs to be the target.  So far each conference has pretty much won on its home courts.  CCIW went 3-1 in Wheaton, MIAA went 4-0 in Holland, CCIW went 4-0 in Kenosha.  But I also believe all 4 games should be as competitive as the 2 Hope played in Kenosha last winter.  Once again it should be 4 entertaining contests in 2 weeks.

In addition to the fact Aquinas is 4-0, Hope has struggled in recent years against Aquinas in at least one of their match-ups with them. It won't be a big win for Hope in my opinion.

Looks like Matt Veltema played his way into the starting lineup with a stellar showing Saturday against LSSU.
KVS told the esteemed members of the West Michigan media that he's opening with sophomore John Mantel at the 5, junior Tim Katt at the 4, sophomore Veltema at the 3, senior Derek Griffin at the 2, and junior Caleb Velthouse at the 1.
Look for Engelsma, Schuster and Smith to get a lot of minutes off the bench.

Nice inside info GK. I expect that with a likely Calvin/WashU final on Saturday we'll know early on how much progress this year's version of Calvin's men's BB has made. In fact, Calvin's schedule over the next three weekends will be a good measuring  stick for the Knights. With Cornerstone's early struggles, and a very young and inexperienced team (primarily freshmen and sophomores) it would be a huge disappointment if Calvin lost to the Golden Eagles this year--even bigger than normal. Hope has a much tougher draw by playing a solid Aquinas squad in the opener. The Saints are experienced and have a very talented and tough post scorer in Pedja Lazic who is guaranteed to give the Dutch fits when Aquinas has the ball. They also have a pretty solid backcourt in James Telman and Jordan Torres (Mr Basketball's former teammate) that can playmake and score. The Saints have often frustrated Hope in early season matchups and I wouldn't consider an Aquinas win in this game to be an upset all. If so, and if Calvin beats Cornerstone in next week Friday's nightcap, we would all be pleased to know that 5 Calvin/Hope games couldn't happen two years in a row. ;)

It should read "Fewer Miles,"  ;D but I don't want to spoil the D-1 fun.

The Hall of Fame Classic:  I think like everyone, the tournament format is completely opposite of what people had been telling me all summer, and I'd asked alot of people.  So something's changed.  :-\

Same here.  In fact, it was the topic of discussion in our house last night, as well as a few web searches.  Came to the same conclusion as SKOT -- it looks like the possibility of 5x exists  (shudder).   :o

I seem to recall there was even something about it in one of the newspapers, but I have been unable to locate it.  The potential of 5 rivalry games in a season (again) is ridiculous, to the point that if Hope should win the first game of this tournament I might have to root against Calvin  :)

FDF, I agree that we don't want any possibility of a 5th Calvin-Hope game this year. So just in case Hope loses the first game, you'll have to bring your maroon and gold clothing so you can help prevent that fifth game possibility.  ;)

That is precisely the kind of thing that makes this tournament set-up a pain :o

YeomansWork, good to have you, don't forget about Academy1! It will be nice to chat to a few people about the hornets this year. If you know any other hornet fans out there put a calling out to them!

Titan Q

Anyone know if these potential Albion and Tri-State starting lineups look right?
