PnR, I was at the game yesterday afternoon at the Rolla Dome.   It was a very frustrating game to watch.  C.J. Johnson was able to feel very comfortable early and then absolutely exploded on the Hornets.  I never once saw the Hornets knock him around or get physical with him. Sometimes it looked like the Red Sea every time he drove the ball.  I'd like to see them take a little more pride on the defensive end of the ball and stopping someone.  37 points has to be one of the largest individual point totals Kalamazoo has given up in a long time.

On a positive note, Kellogg and McCain played very well on the offensive end. Kellogg had a nice night, and probably would've liked a couple of his misses back.  I'm a fan of their frosh, Ryan Clark from Leslie. I think he shows a lot of basketball IQ, and will be a solid contributor throughout the season.  And, he's a hustler.

I can imagine this week will be a very difficult one for Kzoo on the practice floor.  They have a week to get ready for Chicago.
There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

FlyingDutchFans KVI (Karma Volitility Index) is off the charts today.

I heard a rumor that FDF was going to have to take a 100-150 post "write-down" due to exposure to the "subprime posting market."

The long-term effects on FDF's poster economy and KVI --and whether or not this problem may spill into the broader "posting up" economy-- are undetermined at this time.

CCM: Thanks for your comments, and insight.  It is important to look at the long term, and not get frustrated by a great performance by a talented AQ team.
As impressive as the Hope fr. were it seems like young Mr. De Vries from CU may have been the most impressive with 13 pts., and 13 rebounds against Calvin, and 17 points against Hope.  He sure seemed to handle the pressure well.

I agree with your assessment of Kelvin De Vries.  And he's on a team full of FR and SO with no fear, and not intimidated it would seem.  I'm betting they are going to be a really good team by the end of this season, and watch out for them the next couple of years.

FDF:  According to his family Hope did a very nice job trying to recruit Kelvin De Vries.  Hope wanted him to play football as well as b-ball as he was      h. m. all state as a WR.  Sadly the harsh reality of the cost of attending Hope or Calvin versus the $$ available at CU made the choice inevitable.

Yeah Ryan Clark is promising. You can tell hes a good shooter because every time he shoots a 3 the bench is standing up with their hands up before it gets to the rim. Like you said Stinger, he is a hustler, and a good size body for a freshman.

Yeah I can only imagine what practices are like this week. As we all know Coach P has quite a past relationship with Chicago. Hopefully spirited practices will bring sprited play. Is McGrath still at Chicago?

Even after Chicago the hornets have Northwood, then off to the tournament at Marian, where I believe coach haklin is the AD at right?

According to what I also heard and know regarding Kelvin, you're right on the money.  Baahhh-dump-pah (Sorry about the REALLY bad pun)

Hope fans coming to the game Friday and/or Saturday, when you arrive on campus don't go past the residence halls and knollcrest dining hall to get to the parking lot since that is blocked off, and avoid the entrance by the baseball field and soccer diamond.  The best way is to come is to go around the Chapel and Spoelhoff Center and then park to the left of the science building and engineering building.  Enter through the West doors.

$$ can sure make that decision for you.  Too bad - he would have been a great addition for Hope.

When I first heard his name announced on Friday night I thought they said Calvin DeVries, and I thought, "how could someone with a name like that not end up a Knight?"

Thanks for the help.  So entering off of Burton is the right choice?

So my ? is who is copying whom ???

Hope College founded 1866

Calvin College founded 1876

The answer is clear.  ;)

We were just showing our patriotism by awaiting the nation's Centenniel.;) Otherwise Calvin's founding would have been in 1857 and the campus would now be located in Graafschaap. :o

FDF:  Yes, enter off Burton is your best bet.
Personally I wouldn't want to see the "Dutch" with a fab 5  :) fr.

Not as supersweet as almost being in Graafschaap, but........

He may have gotten the Cornerstone scholarship money, but he won't be getting a Hope or Calvin education.

A friend of mine at Calvin confirms the 2500 number for available seating.

I think CCM is right. With the win over Wash U ("Laundrymat!") and the return of their key offensive players, one is inclined to think that Calvin is already in midseason form. But I think they still have work to do on their rotations, getting the players used to playing with each other on the offensive end, and have the younger players willing to take on a larger role than they did last year. I think KVS will get that worked out, and the free-throw shooting is an aberration. I would think Calvin's major concern at this point would be rebounding.
