Do they still have church discipline in the RCA? ::)

I don't know, I am a member of a CRC church  :o

Man, you're really in deep weeds now! :)

Albion garners a lone point, which puts them at "44th."

I have an odd question. Back in the 2004 DeVette Holiday Classic, Hope played Augustana in the championship game. As I recall, Augustana's point guard (Drew Wessels, maybe?) wreaked havoc on Hope, both offensively and defensively. It was the first and only time I ever recall a point guard dominating a game defensively, but he was so quick and fast that Hope was unable to get the ball up the floor against him. Does anyone else have a recollection of this, or is my memory falsely constructing events? Was their point guard as impressive as I remember? What became of him? If Sager is out there, I would guess he has some information.

Here is the boxscore from that Augie/Hope game...

http://www.miaa.org/mbb/stats/0405/1230HOAG.HTM

Drew Wessels, then a sophomore, went on to have a very good career as a point-guard at Augustana.  A 3-year starter, he made the 3rd Team All-CCIW as a junior and 1st Team last year, as a senior.  In his final season at Augie, Wessels averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.3 steals.  He became known as the best perimeter defender in the CCIW and just one of those "gamer" type kids you wanted on your team.  The Vikings won CCIW titles his junior and senior years.

His younger brother Brett transfered to Augustana from Division I Iowa this past off-season.  The junior starts at a 2/3 spot for the Vikings.

Four 3 pt attempts for Augustana, thats got to be a low vs Hope in the 3pt shot era.

This was the Hope team without Greg Immink, injured in the pre-season.  Without Andy Phillips, injured a few weeks later, and had 2 or 3 players suspended for about 4 games.

You are correct, but I don't recall what the cutoff is

For some reason I've tried to listen to Aquinas/Alma and the broadcast is as brutal as the game.  AQ has led by 30 or around there the whole time. 63-31 with 7 min to go.

I'm chalking it up as an L.

MIAA 11-16

I think you need 100 posts.

Biblical references to Calvin - 0 (all versions)

We rest our case  ;D  ;D  ;D

You had to dig a little farther because the reference to Calvin isn't quite as apparent as the Hope references.  Song of Solomon 2:4 may be referring to Calvin when it says "and his banner over me."  ;D  ;)

Quote from: sac on March 01, 2006, 09:27:44 PM... I'm going to buy Hope some MIAA Championship banners to hang around the place ... Maybe then it would look like the "Garden".

I think Hope's NCAA runner-up banners are stretching it.

If Calvin put up NCAA 2nd place banners they'd add 11 banners ...
- Women's T&F (2001, 2004, 2005)
- Women's XC (1992, 1993, 1994)
- Men's T&F (2002)
- Men's XC (1998, 2001, 2002, 2005)

... to go along with the 7 NCAA Championship banners ...
- Women's XC (1998, 1999)
- Men's XC (2000, 2003, 2004)
- Men's BB (1992, 2000)

... it'd look like they'd hung Buddhist prayer flags in the Fieldhouse.

Careful with the banner comments.  Next thing you know this RCA and CRC stuff will return to the Buddhist thing.

Doesn't Hope have Commissioner's Cup banners hanging as well?
Bûter, brea en griene tsiis; wa't dat net sizze kin, is gjin oprjochte Fries.

hoopdreams

in regards to the alma-aq game, there were 2 guys from aquinas who played tonight who got their first minutes of the season.  Does anyone know the NAIA rules pertaining to red-shirting?  Minutes allowed etc...

Odds on DVS returning to his starting position on Friday?

Not sure of opposing teams size, but I'm curious to see if wolfe and tanis see more time on the floor together.  One to give "Tyler" more time to get in the flow of the offense and knock down some shots and "Ty" because he has shot so well the  games (including ferris) that I've watched.

Yes, a ton at that.  I think the last year they didn't win it was 2000?   Pretty impressive.  Of course it doesn't help that Calvin doesn't have  football team, but I'm not sure how much of an effect that would do to the final Cup standings if they did have one.

And Calvin actually has 8 banners, not 7.  The site you got that info from probably hasn't added the 2006 Calvins Men XC national championship yet.
