Along with #7 Aquinas, Hope fans should keep on eye on #8 Mount Vernon Nazerene and circle December 29 on their calenders.......they should matchup with Hope for the Championship of the Russ DeVette Holiday Classic.

They're currently 7-0 with only a win over D2 Ashland being single digits.  They have Michigan-Dearborn, Kenyon, Houghton(NY) and Purdue North Central remaining.......so they should be 11-0 when they lineup with the Dutchmen.

This looks like a good team and program, last year they went 25-7, lost in the 2nd round of the NAIA tournament to eventual champion Mid American Nazarene.  Definately a must see game if your in Holland that night.

I tend to agree that not posting is probably the best approach for CCM at this time.  It has to be tough to be in that position.  I really do think KVS, and each of the players individually are trying to do their best.   I think Aljr may have had the key when he said yesterday they (Calvin) simply need to go out and start knocking people down.  Balls was the word he used. ;) ;)
If I were the type person that bets a spread I would cover Hope up to 10 or 12 against AQ the next time the 2 meet.   For AQ to beat Hope at the "Dick" is going: a. to take a serious injury to a Hope player none of us want to think about,   b. all the suits on Hope's bench going brain dead  c. Hope to perform like Calvin last night.  :D   As much as I hate to say it the MIAA coaches saw this coming when they picked Hope to win the conference.

Aljr::  My point early on was J Mantel sat while tired legs from a non-productive bench played.  I like 6'8" players like Mantel, and Aultman, but one can hardly assume they all are created equal.

December 29 on their calenders.......

Being 1800 mile from Holland, the only dates I have marked are the 25th and 26th of Jan.

the 25th I hope to go see UPS at Lewis and Clark
The next day Hope/Calvin at a satellite party.

I'm so bummed I don't get to see the Hope/Calvin game live this year. On the other hand, a satellite party could be fun, and I look forward to meeting the DC area Hope (and Calvin) folk.

Actually, in DC we all meet at the same bar but as much as possible Hope folk try not to interact with those Calvin folk, with their goofy gold and maroon shirts and all. :) Haha, I kid, I kid. Its always been a fun time and the Calvin people are very nice (funny colored shirts notwithstanding). ;)

Does anyone know why the first Calvin-Hope Saturday match-up this season is at Calvin and not at Hope?  Because I thought they rotated every other year, and last years' Saturday match-up was also at Calvin.  Just curious...

That brings the MIAA's non-con record to 19-23.

As concerns this weekend's games, Trinity International laid a smackdown on Carthage last night, 82-64. TI is only 3-10 (13 games already?!?) on the year, but that's an interesting victory. I'll still be surprised if they get by Aquinas, however.

Pure speculation here but, I am guessing that because the parking situation is poor that it would be better to let spectators walk in the daylight.  Although the parking at DeVos is no picnic either.

Looking forward to a trip into scenic Lenawee County this evening for the annual grudge match between Adrian and Siena Heights.  This game is always an interesting one, and this year should be no exception.  Adrian lost a tough one last year, and the Bulldogs have been pointing to this one all season.  I expect an inspired effort from the guys tonight.  This is a great early season test, and a win would really mean a lot.

HC:  That Carthage/Tri Intl. score is definitely interesting.  I still think AQ handles them easily as one of Tri Intl loses is to CU 98-76 at Tri Intl.

I, for one, will be interested to hear your take on this game.  Travel safe, but hurry home and fill us all in! :)
