Get off your high horse.  It was a joke.

:D :D

Although I disagree with posting that clip in this context, I'm glad you can keep your sense of humor when it's turned back around to you.  That's the last I've got to say...don't want this to become the next dead horse.   ;D  ::)  :P

Two years ago, Caleb Veldhouse came downcourt at DeVos at the end of the game with the Knights trailing by two and was whistled (incorrectly) for an offensive foul. That play didn't make him a horse's a$$ either.

One of the most heart-breaking Hope-Calvin games I have witnessed that I replay in my head all the time.  Don't forget that that was also a 2 on 1 fast-break play as well.  Thanks for reminding me of this, oldknight!  :o

Hey just about all the enormous beams are up for the new fieldhouse.  It's really starting to look like they're making progress now.

Anyone want to place odds that if the same horse clip were posted about a Kzoo player, it wouldn't be as funny, and I'd be arrogant?  ::)

Unfortunately, I was unable to listen to yesterday's game but it sounds like in the end Hope lost due to a recurring problem. An inability to score/close a game in the last 5 minutes! Happened against Aquinas and was a problem last year at times too. I have no idea how you "fix" that sort of problem but I hope GVW can figure something out because its terribly frustrating to watch a lead evaporate in the last minutes. Still it was a close game and Hope obviously can play with Elmhurst. (Who knows maybe if that "special" ref FDF tracked was not there things would have been better?)

I think everything is a symptom of not having a strong interior game to counter the opponents strong interior.  Against most oponents in D3 they'll find they do have a strong interior, but against the better teams they don't.  Off the top of my head, every Hope loss in the last 3 years where they struggled in the last 5 minutes was against an opponent with a strong interior game.  By strong interior I guess I mean having a true center or post player.

Elmhurst, Aquinas for 07-08, Washington, Calvin twice, Wheaton, Carthage 06-07, Wittenberg, Albion, Calvin in 05-06

All but maybe a couple had at the very least a good post presense.  Its been noted on more than one occasion that the offense becomes bogged down and they're left with tough 3 point shots.

I don't think there's a quick fix, other than to understand you can't turn the ball over in the last 5 minutes and you have to take good shots.

Sac, you say "every Hope loss in the last 3 years"...I think it's been since '99.
I only remember three close wins while I was in school from 99-03
(Klingler @kzoo, Spaman@Wisc in NCAA, and MIAA semi vs. Calvin)
Also, sorry if I upset anyone with my comments...I also was just listening on the radio...and couldn't believe that they had called a foul at the end of the game/ref's got together to discuss if they would call before/after horn.
Oh well....that's what I get for listening to my first Hope game online this year. I need to see it with my own two eyes.
I hope everyone is doing well. Enjoy your holiday season!

The RDV tournament turned out to be very competitive, with only Elmhurst coming home with 2 wins.

If you saw the end of last night's Celtics/Pistons game you witnessed Tony Allen getting sucked into a great head fake by a great clutch player who never misses free throws when they really count. That play didn't make Tony Allen a horse's a$$.

Dunking the ball after the whistle and shredding your ACL does make you a horse's a$$.  So, in effect, whether or not Tony Allen's play last night made him a horses a$$ is entirely irrelevant, because he already proved himself to be one last year.

While I cringe at defending an old foe, and while I realize that this formula doesn't hold up well...

Elmhurst>Hope>Roanoke>Defiance>UWO, who beat Elmhurst on the 28th of November.

Is Defiance showing up on any poll radar? 3 of their 4 losses came at the hands of vote getters, and 2 of those losses were by a total of 3 points. And now a win over the 13th ranked team, who only a week ago received one of the #1 votes.

Just wondering???

Echoing some of Stinger's comments about the K/Blufton game this past Tuesday, I came away with a much better feeling than after the U of Chicago and Whittenberg games.  Obviously getting a W helps, but the Hornets played much harder than the previous two occasions.  They need to continue to work from the inside/out instead of relying on the perimeter.  Although Kellogg and McCain will continue to be undersized throughout the rest of the year, these two guys are pretty talented and makes shooters like Clancy, Matich, and Orozco get better opportunities.  The bigs need to continue to stay out of foul trouble, because there isn't much help behind them.  And wow, a pretty impressive dunk from McCain after a steal in the open court.  Next up is Marygrove, which should be a pretty easy win looking at the score in the Albion game.

And SAC, I agree with you the majority of the time but I can guarantee that Stinger and myself would not be offended if you posted the same thing about a Hornet player.

Just beating the dead horse here...I'm glad the video was posted. For the fact that it actually created some entertaining conversation besides how the new beams look, or the ketchup and mustard at the stadium is doing (haha ok thats funny), or the 1231259 hope post on why they lost, or the 9234670910002222 post reminiscing about a previous hope-calvin game.

If you are going to be offended with what someone else posts then don't read the posts, call your buddies by the phone and talk about the game.

I'm glad K is going into break with two wins. Bluffton was a good win for the hornets, and they still have a long way to come to be competitive in the league. Good news is they have plenty of spots they have improved, with a lot of other aspects that can still be corrected.

How am I supposed to know if I am going to be offended if I don't read it first? I don't assume offense, a priori.

Unbelievable.  I just hope the MIAA doesn't pull a Big Ten move to restrict the telecasts of the Hope-Calvin games and future web-casts of MIAA games. I attend many home Calvin sporting events (more than just basketball), but I listen to away games over the Internet (realist tells me video is on the way!). The way things are going, the MIAA could charge subscription fees for us to listen/watch MIAA games.

It's also sad if this does restrict the 'blogging' during live games. It was great during the last two Hope games to read different thoughts about the play of the game and read all the posts. Too bad if D3 Hoops had to shut this site down or something during certain games because of the regulations.
