Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

Pretty interesting pikcs by the folks on the Pick 'Em board for tomorrow.  They seem to be in pretty good agreement about who will win:

Adrian (22) over Olivet (3)
Kzoo (25) over Alma (0)
Calvin (19) over TSU (6)
Hope (22) over Albion (3)

Which of these picks they are most confident about is completely a toss-up.  Here are the average confidence points for each of the favored teams:

Adrian (2.23)
Kzoo (2.64)
Calvin (2.63)
Hope (3.00)

Rochester and Wash U are going to OT. Rochester hits a shot at buzzer to send it to OT.

Rochester wins... number 1 dethroned once again.

Hopefully Hope can keep on winning as these no. 1's keep getting beat. How awesome would it be to have the no. 1 mens and womens team at the same time?

CM & FDF :  My friends. :D  Sadly you date yourself.  Calvin is now offering a minor in Dance.

I must've missed my calling by attending NPU instead of Calvin, because when people at church ask me why I spend so much time on this website, my reply is usually, "I am interpreting God's revelation through leisure."

Much more awesome in late March than in early February.

I just did a quick perusal of the d3.hoops top 25, and it appears that quite a number of the teams listed play each other during their seasons, thereby allowing them to knock each other out of the top spot. Does anyone see this as a deficit for Hope to not play any of the top ranked teams until they get to the playoffs? Or, has playing  Roanoke(Honorable Mention), Wheaton(#24) and Aquinas(#16 NAIA DII) early in the season been enough???

Hope did also play Elmhurst (#21) and Carthage (HM), but the real answer to your question is that this is really an indication of the strength (or lack there of) of the MIAA.  Most of the top 25 teams that are playing each other are in the same conference (WashU and Rochester for example).

Here's 3 things I don't expect to see today........

1.  I don't expect an 18-16 halftime score at Albion

2.  I don't expect Albion's starting 5 to shoot 19.4% from the floor again or 22.8% as a team.

3.  I don't expect Hope to win by 15 this time around.

I expect a very tough, exciting, close ballgame today.  This is a very big day for the Dutchmen.

Be safe in your travels, Go Hope!

For the sake of everyone braving the roads in West Michigan I certainly hope you don't have to see the first one again. As for the second one, I think the odds of that happening again are about 1 in a million.

Albion always plays a great game at Kresge against the likes of Hope and Calvin. I think the Brits were probably guilty of looking ahead a bit on Wednesday night (I think Alma played well but after building a 12 point halftime lead the Brits seemed to stop playing). It should be a great game.

Sac;  I tend to agree with your pre-game analysis.  One might even go so far as to say that Albion,at home, probably has the highest odds of  ending Hope's run to an unblemished MIAA title.   :)
Calvin will probably struggle some with Tri-State unless they can control the boards and create some offense inside.
hhf:  I wouldn't be so quick to try to make a case for a weak Hope schedule.
I doubt seriously that any coach with a team in the top 25 would consider playing Hope an easy game. :)  I would be very surprised to hear that GVW gets lots of calls from teams wanting to come play in Holland.

Four teams easily in the top 25% for strength of schedule and Tri-State doesn't miss out by much. Its good to see MIAA teams taking on challenging schedules.

I think the MIAA-CCIW Challenge has gone a long long way to helping Hope's SOS the last 5 years. They really suffered finding quality in-region opponents in the past as realist noted, no one really wants to travel to Calvin or Hope.
