Its definitely a bummer we have to wait to see/hear some games but safety comes first. And the board will stay quiet 24 hours longer.

This board "stay quiet"??? You have to be kidding. As you can see from the posts since yours, it has been anything but quiet!! ;D

As much as it pains me to remember, Meckes had quite a memorable dunk in the past couple of years...memorable because although he was also called for the offensive foul, the dunk still counted.   >:(  How 'bout the loooong arms?   :'(  But, then, we had Kris Merrit several years back.  His long arms came up with SO many blocks.  I loved the way a teammate could allow an opponent to shoot a long j and Kris would get up high enough to block it anyway.   :)  There...  Now I'm back to happy memories.
If there is one thing I've learned from this board it's this: There's more than one way to split a hair.

Does anyone know how Stephen Cramer is doing with the Weiden Coocoons?  I couldn't find a link to a schedule or box scores.  Hopefully someone has had better luck keeping up that I have.

I thought the bored had been a bit quiet the previous 24 hours and so I said that. Based on the discussion since then I think I can be personally credited with this new line of discussion. ;) :)

The plus side is, everyone can stay home and not miss any of Duke/North Carolina.

This website has some stats (it's of course all in German).  Cramer is currently leading the league at 31.9 points per game

Here is a site for anyone interested in keeping up with Steve. Hope you find it more helpful than the German stats page.

Couldn't be happier that tonight's game was postponed.  Now I'll be able to go.

Seems to me — and help us out on this one OC-SID — there was an Olivet guy maybe 5, 6 years ago that put a baseline move on Kyle Kleersnyder in the Civic Center and flew right over the top of Kleer and rattled the backboard. That one sound familiar?
And, of course, we can't forget Tommy Halbert and Wade Gugino pulling down the rim against Concordia a number of years back resulting in the cancellation of that one.

I'm Chevy Chase and you're not.

Oh, almost forgot the one Tubergen thundered down at the half in Hope at Calvin when the backboard/halftime lights were already glowing and Ernie Cryer credited the basket. That was the one where GVW refused to do the TV halftime interview, he was so ticked.

I'm a bit perplexed. After sitting through another stressful day (why do I do this?), I expected to see talk of Albion's outstanding efforts and the hope veterans not getting it done. When the starters shoot 16-50, 3-18 from behind the arc, have 7 to's in an average of 31minutes,why is the chatter about the bench? The 6 "benchers" averaged7.5 including an inexcusable 18 by osborn. 2-5 from the floor and 3 to's, none by the 4 frosh.  The starters didn't get it done today period. There weren't any big runs with the second group, nor did they get beat off the dribble repeatedly, give up uncontested 3's,miss shots in the paint or ft's.  It was obvious that some of hope's players were off, unfortunately it happens. But hope did not lose because of some unexplainable phenomenon by the bench, they weren't given a chance to succeed...or fail.  Hope lost to a good team who got to more loose balls( Wolfe on the wing?) and took advantage of more scoring ops-  Jesse in transition off the opening tip?

First, in my opinion the conversation about the game has not focused on the bench in a disproportional way.  That said while I think the starters failed to come through on Saturday the fact the bench didn't help when they were in is a problem.  First, sometimes the bench has to be relied on due to foul trouble, which is why we saw so much of Osburn today after Klein got two early fouls.  Second, as sac points out this is the first time in recent memory anyone can remember Hope being so reliant on the contribution of the starters. The bench has been more inconsistent than anytime I recall. Finally, you mention the bench didn't get a chance to fail or succeed. I think that is the other issue/question. Like many of us have mentioned before GVW tends to shorten the bench as the season progresses. And on cue that appears to be happening again this year. The question is why? No faith in the bench? Or tons of faith in the starters? I don't know. But when the team loses and gets absolutely destroyed on the boards in the first half people ask these questions.

I know I am late to this conversation but I read this board and cannot believe how worried people get over losing a road regular season basketball game.  UNLESS you have an absolutely dominant team (like the HOPE women this year....btw sorry STINGER for mentioning the womens team on a mens board....:) you are not likely to run the table in the MIAA.  Too many good teams and especially good coaches who have their teams well-prepared for everything you do.  The questions to ask are:  Did Hope play hard?  did they get good shots?   Did good shooters get their shots where they should?  Did they defend?  If you can say yes to these questions...chalk it up to a poor shooting night and give the other team some credit also.

That would be Michael Dyson (aka Dunkin Dyson).

So now the teams all get to face a Thursday night game followed by a Saturday afternoon game.  Made me wonder which team might suffer the most from this.  My guess would be Kzoo - At Albion Thursday night, hosting Hope Saturday afternoon.

Playing at Olivet Saturday night, Albion might suffer the most if Kzoo/Albion is a track meet like the first meeting.   Albion expends alot of energy every game any way.

I don't like Adrian's chances at Calvin Saturday as much after what should be another tough matchup with TSU.  I thought that might be a good game, now not as much.

Last year Hope did the 2 day thing with Albion then Calvin and looked pretty tired vs Calvin early but then regrouped.  It was the next game vs Adrian where the fatigue really kicked in.  With 3 days off after Saturday it may not bother anyone this year, but its something to consider.

This takes everyone out of their normal rhythm, and only provides one day of preparation for Saturday's game, and one day of rest.
