No disrespect but it may be time to start a seperate Floyd Brady thread.

You may not have meant it, but it was.....feel free to offer topics if you don't like the current one.

Big announcement from Alma today, and I find this surprising but exciting all the same.

Time for the folks at Albion and Kalamazoo to start makeing phone calls to the big money donors.

My prediction is that no matter what the other MIAA schools can come up with, starting next year Calvin will lead the league in total attendance and ironically total number of empty seats at the same time.

-----Some symetry tonight, as you know Floyd Brady passed away last weekend (nice moment of silence) and wore #32......in  Ryan Klein's absense tonight, Zach Osburn started and of course wears......#32.

Speaking of symetry, YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS...

Floyd Brady broke Hope College center Paul Benes' career scoring record of 1,741 on Feb. 3, 1968 with his patented left handed hook shot.  He ended his career with 2,004 points.

He recalled it like it was yesterday in a Holland Sentinel interview in 2005.  "One of the players gave me a pick and I came over the top of the free throw line, got a pass and before I knew it I threw it up and fortunately it went in," said Brady.  "It was memorable."

EXACTLY 40 YEARS LATER TO THE DAY, FEB. 3, 2008, THE HOPE LEGEND WAS TAKEN HOME BY HIS CREATOR.

To add to the story, I was at the game, but I have to admit I don't remember the shot.  However, I know I was there, because my girlfriend at the time and I went out after the game and GOT ENGAGED.

Both Brady's record and our marriage of 39 years are still intact!

No disrespect but it may be time to start a seperate Floyd Brady thread.

Sorry, but the dozen or so posts related to the premature death of one of the greatest basketball players, if not THE greatest BB player, in the history of the nation's oldest collegiate conference seemed very appropriate for "Lets Talk MIAA."  To not do that would have been a disservice and disrespectable to both the conference and the player.  I also would have felt that way had his uniform been of any other MIAA school.

"Tweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!"  (that's the sound of a referee's whistle!)  Double technical on #MaroonKnighty for unsportmanlike conduct. Your game for today is done.  :)

VERY COOL STORY!  Thanks for sharing!  :D

I was sharing at dinner tonight how I wished I could have seen Floyd Brady play and both of my brothers were at Hope at the time that Floyd was a student and shared what a special treat it was to watch him play.  I guess heaven just got a real starter!!

Good to see tonight that Stinger is still his High School's all-time leading 3 point shooter, a 15 year record.   From the looks of one kid though, that might be in jeopardy.   Also good to see he didn't feel the need to run it up on his competition limiting himself to 99 treys.  We know how important that 100 is to some people.  :D

It will be nice for Calvin to finally have respectable attendance tomorrow in what could-be, the second to last home game ever in that historical fieldhouse.  It's just really a shame of how it's been this season so far.  I actually think student attendance is up from years past(not student participation, though, although games like Albion, Washington U, and Grace Bible were good), but adult attendance is way down.

So HCG, you must have some inside knowledge on why Hope's attendance will drop off the charts next year in order for your prediction to come to fruition ::)

If you are going to the Hope/Kzoo game today, get there early(get the most bang for your buck), see the future, and watch some of the JV game, they have been averaging  87 points a game in the MIAA and are 8-1 in the conference. Combine some of these freshman/sophomores with the Varsity's fab four, and GVH has a strong team in two and three years.

Thanks for the props SAC.  It's somewhat laughable that that paltry number has stood for so long.

Looking forward to the afternoon at AAC.

Do me a favor hope fans and save me a spot in the K fans section please.

AH:  I have always been a big fan, and supporter of Floyd Brady.
IMHO he definitely is one of the top 5 all time in the MIAA, but "greatest" may need to go to Mark Veenstra.  Hard to beat 4 time MVP.  As I recall Floyd had some help as a fr. and soph., but he was "the man" his last rwo years.  I do recall a matchup of Floyd versus Bill De Horn (than a fr.) at Calvin.  De Horn still shares the MIAA rebounding record at 17 per game.  Bill could stand flat footed under the basket, and do a 2 handed reverse slam.  Not bad for a 6'4' about 225 lb forward.
