D.J. Mocini makes a buzzer beating three to win the game for the Brits.

Anyone who was at the game - how open was he?  Clean look?  From how far out did he hit it?

it sounded like hope played good tonight  the radio anouncers said hope was the number 1 seed in the region tonight
i love hope  sports all of them are really great to watch

What a great win for Hope tonight. Adrian only lost by 4 at DeVos but Hope really played a great game overall. I hate to be a broken record but the one drawback was another poor night from the FT line, only 7-13. Didn't make a difference tonight but I liked those 80% games a lot better.

Wow all I can say about that finish. When Griffin hit that shot with 6 seconds left, it was like deja vu all over again (MIAA championship). I figured Calvin had it until the three by Mocini all but ended any possible aspirations of hosting the MIAA tourney for Calvin. Congratulations Albion.

C'mon Dutchmen win out so we don't have to go to Kresge.
Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

Some good matchups tonight, with strong title and tournament seeding implications, but I have to believe this is the best and most interesting matchup of the night.

I think I'll mosey on down to Kresge to see what all the excitement is about.  I'm expecting a barn burner.
Good call.

I predict the Calvin-Albion game comes down to the last possession.  Calvin's going to have to execute their fast-breaks much better than they did Saturday if they are going to win.
Good call.

Sounds like I missed a good one at Kresge, and a boring blowout at Adrian. Hope must have played well tonight, I saw the stats early, but can anybody fill me in on how the game went down?

Hope came right out of the gates with a quick 12-0 lead and coasted into a halftime score of 37-21. MVH, DVS, and Wolfe scored 33 of the 37 with the other four made by Klein. At the beginning of the second half Adrian came out hot and started to make some three pointers and with about 13 minutes to go if I remember correctly, Gallus had a three point play to cut the lead to 45-40. Adrian then held Hope and missed a couple of shots that would have trimmed the lead to one possession with 12 minutes to go, they failed to do so, and Hope got back in line and took over the game from there. Hope went on a 17-2 run that would push the lead to 20 with 5 minutes to go, and it was over by that point. I didn't really pay any attention after that because the Calvin Albion game was in its final moments.

I saw that one.  ;D

That was the best 8:54 of basketball I've seen this season, just a tremendous finish.

sac

To elaborate on the Albion/Calvin finish.

In 8:54, I saw 6 lead changes and 3 ties.  A whole host of pretty amazing shots and rebounds.

I don't believe anyone else but Derek Griffin touched the ball in the final 40 seconds for Calvin and you can't argue that strategy, his first drive to the basket down by 1 was to easy and Albion committed the inevitable foul.  The missed FT was a bad miss, hard and long that came out far enough for Calvin to get posession.  Again Griffen posessed the ball and his drive to the basket was both predictable and easy.  I wouldn't call his make a difficult one, only the circumstances, but it was in traffic with a couple Brits with hands between him and the bucket.  It was nothing like his shot to beat Hope at DeVos.

After a timeout, Albion is somehow able to throw it long to DJ Mocini at the half court line and he's able to dribble all the way up to just about the 3 point line for the game winner, which was pure and looked good all the way.  Nothing but net.  Kresge erupted of course and the students mobbed the entire Albion team on the other end of the court.

But I want to take everyone back to the 6:38 mark right about here:

GOOD! 3 PTR by Bill Leising                     06:38  44-43  H 1

This shot you had to see to believe, shot clock down to about 4 and Mr. Leising launches basically a set shot from I kid you not, 30 feet.........swish.  Albion's first lead since I walked in the door.  Amazing shot and ultimately one of the biggest shots of the season.

Calvin will probably see a tape of this and it will probably make them sick to their stomach's.  Calvin chose to not gaurd the inbounder, and had one man back to defend the Albion decoy.  So it was 4 vs 3 in the front court.  As stated above Albion is able to throw the ball to midcourt and DJ Mocini gets the ball just over the timeline and is able to dribble all the way to the stripe for the winning 3.  I'm sure it was over defenders.   It was not a prayer shot of any kind, if it were any other situation it was just another 3 pointer.

So KVS did not get a pre-game phone call from Rick Petino to discuss end-game strategy, eh?

No kidding.  Not only not guarding the inbounder, but how do you let someone, let alone one of their 3-point shooters, catch and dribble the ball all the way to the 3-point line.   >:( >:( ???  Unbelieveable!!

Sounds like "sick to their stomach" is a good way to describe it.  I wasn't even there and I'm feeling that way.
