This week's Top 25 poll is out, and Hope logically moves up to #3.  Be it too high or not, the ranking pales in comparison to all the implications that Wednesday's game brings.

Calvin feels pretty comfortable at DeVos, and the Dutchmen are going to have to start focused and stay focused to get the W.  Can they do it?  Of course.  Will they?  Hey, this is the Rivalry!  How in the world should I know?   :D :P ;D :-\

If I remember correctly, I am pretty sure a Calvin fan posted something like, what is the big deal about DVS. I believe this was after the last Hope/Calvin game. But I think that Calvin fans are going to see a different DVS on Wednesday. He has been playing very well and shooting the ball extremely well lately. I would even say that he is starting to make a case for MIAA player of the year. Now I hope my words dont come back to get me but I think DVS is playing at the top of his game right now. I think he is due for a break out game against the knights. It might even be the "knightmare" that energizes a huge performance from him.

I have to say, I'm surprised Albion hasn't received a single vote. They've defeated the 3rd ranked team in the country, and are a RIVALRY upset away from hosting the MIAA Tournament.

Most of his recent success has come from a 3 guard offense, with Kelvin Carter unlikely to play Wed. we will not see a 3 guard offense and DVS will have to play the point, probably for the whole game.

Nobody deleted posts, the program resets occasionally and bumps posts to previous pages.  Its automatic :)

Users can delete their own posts as well. Someone from anytime in the past two and a half years could've decided to quit the board and take their posts with them.

I don't think the board recalibrates in that way, however.

Did the rules change?  Because I remember about a year ago a hall of famer deleted one of my posts and told me so through a personal message.

Anyone have any MVP thoughts.  What players still have a chance to win it? Vanderheide? Griffin?  Veldhouse? Benford?

Can it be won Wednesday night with an MVP-type performance from a Calvin or Hope player?  If Hope wins, I think Vanderheide would be the favorite heading into Saturday.

Also you can add national exposure with a quality opponent to that list.
Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

It seems pretty wide open to me, Vanderheide was my favorite at the halfway point but not by much.  I think you could make good arguments for all these guys.

Tony Benford
Derek Griffin
Caleb Veldhouse
Tyler Wolfe
Marcus Vanderheide
Derek VanSolkema has gotten himself back in the discussion.

The way DJ Mocini's season going, I couldn't argue voting against him. :D

Yes some of DVS's recent success has come from the three guard offense but I cant say I completely agree with you on this on. Hope has only been running the three guard offense for umm.... about two and a half games now. That is including Kzoo where it was run very poorly and they did not even run it very long. And last game Carter was out so they were not able to run it very much there either. DVS has been hitting a lot of his long range shots and playing a very well rounded game in general. The rest of the team has been doing a great job of getting him open and he is taking advantage. So I do not think even with him running the point (like has been doing all season) is going to hinder him all that much. He is due for a big game against Calvin whether it is through a three guard offense or him at point guard.

Throw whatever stats you want out there, it's still The Rivalry.  You can just as well start with a blank page.  ;)

That last post was not to discourage anyone from posting their favorite stats, of course.   ;D

Here's one:

Calvin's average scoring margin in the last 6 games:  +11.7

Hope's average scoring margin in the last 6 games:  +24.0

:o  :o  :o  :o  :o       :D

Here's another:

Calvin's average shooting % in the last 6 games:  44.4%

Hope's average shooting % in the last 6 games:  45.8%

Implies Hope had fewer chances for offensive rebounds than Calvin.

On Albion, they also lost to Ohio Wesleyan and Kalamazoo. I was pondering voting for OWU until they lost last weekend but Albion would be behind them on my list.

How is it that the WIAC get 4 teams in the top 25?  Seems a little overloaded to me.
