About the only open looks for 3's (for Calvin) will come off dribble penetration, and kicking it back out.  If Calvin doesn't move without the ball they will kill themselves.  Hope needs to keep the turnovers down, avoid fouls, and get some points from the bench.

I hope you are right. The numbers Erm pointed out are big. Its really important for Hope to pressure the perimeter and prevent Calvin from launching 3's all game.

Agreed!  No points from the bench at Calvin, then 40 at home 4 days later vs. Tri-State, punctuated by Tanis' 15.  The bench needs to channel that game and forget the game at Calvin.  I realize the circumstances will be different, but if they can be effective in their first trips to the floor, they'll stay in longer and more frequently.  They need to keep the production level up, not just the intensity.

I agree with needing someone off the bench to step it up tonight, Hope cannot count on MVH and TW to score the way they did last time.

Perhaps not, but don't forget, there are 3 other starters perfectly capable of putting up big numbers themselves.  Let's not get too panicky about points from the bench just yet.

Looking for one ticket to tonight's game at the DeVos for my sister's family.  Please pm me if you have one available and I will give you her contact info.  Thanks!

All set with a ticket!  Thanks to all of you who responded.  Now...  Does anybody need 7 tickets to tonight's game?  (Just kidding!   ;D)

The key for Calvin will be that they will have to score more points than Hope.  They can do that two different ways.  One is to play very good offense, and score lots of points.  Whenever they shoot the ball at the basket, they should make sure that it goes in.  Field goals, free throws and 3-pointers will be key.  If they happen to miss a shot, make sure that they get the rebound and take another shot.  The best way to make sure that they get the rebound is to get the ball before any Hope players get to it.

They should also make sure that Hope does not score many points.  Play good defense and this is sure to happen.  If it comes down to a last second shot, either foul the shooter or don't foul him.  Work hard all the way through the first half, and then also in the second half.  If it goes to OT, be sure to play hard in the OT period(s) also.  If they do all this, I do not see how they can lose.

Is that a KVS pregame speech?

I can't believe I haven't seen a Hope/Calvin game in person since '03!
I guess that is part of growing up :(
Tonight I'm headed to a book tour for "God Save the Fan" in Philadelphia at 7...then headed to apt to listen to the rest of "The Game" on the internet.
Is anyone on this board familiar with deadspin.com ? It's a sports blog that is a little "off" and would never fly around these parts...but it's solid writing and pure comedy GOLD. I strongly recommend it....if you are under the age of 40. "God Save the Fan" was written by the edior of deadspin, Will Leitch.
BACK TO THE GAME...I am actually expecting an easy (they are never easy) Hope win tonight. I am thinking 80-65.
For those of you fortunate to attend the game...enjoy it!

I ran this past some of my coaching friends and they said you are right on the money with these keys to the game.  But, I also found out that the real key to the game is in the hands of the head custodian over at the Dick.

Well, now I have to take you off of the Christmas card list!  Under the age of 40, indeed.  Harumph.  Some of us old timers still have our sense of humor and irony intact, sonny!   ;)  Maybe that's because I still get to see The Game in person, and therefore haven't had to grow up just yet!   ;D

(Next time you're in town, remind me to beat you with my cane.)   :)
