Convert: Why would you see more MIAA/OAC/NCAC matchups? Those games already have all of the advantages as they would if all D-III opponents were regional opponents. They have under every system we've had dating back years.

I'd like to see all D-III games be regional as well. It's contrary to the Division III philosophy, which emphasizes regional competition. The recent expansions of the definition of a regional game have been attempts to balance the desires of coaches with those of the philosophy.

That said, I'm glad not to be part of the UAA. I have my theories about the organization of that league; suffice it to say I don't find the set-up very rational, although it's quite possible I'm missing something.

No problem - the UAA wouldn't accept you (either before or after conversion ;)).

The UAA is not structured primarily for athletics - with the obvious exceptions of Johns Hopkins (who used to be a member), MIT, and Caltech, they consist of the national research universities who are in d3.  They have an advantage come selection time, being in 4 (or is it 5?) different regions, but I think they can afford the travel.  For 'gaming' the d3 selection system, their many regions is probably second only to NESCAC's single round-robin - but no system is fail-safe.

back to basketball!!!!!

Yep, couple good ones tonight.  I'm thinking Kzoo/Albion is probably the most interesting.  Olivet/Calvin certainly given last weeks results will be watched but I'd be surprised if Calvin struggled with that team at home.

I just got on... Looks like other than Calvin/Olivet the games are close. What's happening?

Nothing the last 2:24 for either K or Albion...

Well Hope's ahead 28-18

Alma scored just 6 points in the final 11 minutes of the half, just 2 FG's, if it weren't for Zach Osburn this would have been an embarrasing start.  Alma scored 10 points the final 17 minutes of the half.

Hope went from 5 down to 10 up but they shouldn't feel good about it.

Let the 3's fly for Alma in the 2nd.

A little surprised to see only 28 points from the Dutchmen at the half and expected to see a lot of bench playing, but then saw the stats and  2/12 from 3... Ouch! But Zach with 6 is nice

Maybe the men are taking the women's approach and will come out on fire in the second and have the game put away with 10:00 to go...

DUH??  When did the UAA come to mean University Academic Association?  Really Mr. Y. ???    "The UAA is not structured primarily for athletics" is one of the weakest answers since this conversation started.  UAA stands for University Athletic Association, by it's own name it tells us it is about what????  Athletics!!! ;D

NWHF:  Sometimes one must get a burr under the saddle to understand how important pain is. :D  I think KVS has the boys attention.
